Not trying to defend this person at all, but the above is pretty much true for almost any knowledge-based service on the internet. You can spend the time researching the stuff yourself or you pay someone to spoon-feed you the information you seek. Paying $150 might appear expensive, yet if it does help you to refund an item of that amount or more and saving you x additional hours of research it might be worth it for your individual situation.
Again, I do not know that guy and from what you've written about the Discord channel it appears not to be worth it. I'm aware of similar services by well-recognised refunders which are much pricier but also guide you through your first refund personally. Is it worth spending $1,000 on this? If the first item is worth $2,000, it probably is. Or you take your chances of figuring everything out yourself and doing the necessary trial runs.
In short: if it's a reputable service you trade money for saved time and some sense of security/support. Whether you value the latter over the former remains being an individual choice.

That's a fair point.
Ultimately, it depends on what you think you can take away from it and whether the service/person in question really knows their stuff. Even if unsuccessful you could learn a lot from the right person. The problem is, most refunders and "mentors" I see advertising out there are scriptkiddies and not hackers to use a surprisingly well-suited analogy. I rather learn myself and ask for help where appropriate.

Though, seldom have I requested assistance- I work things out for myself, even If It takes an entire week.

It is possible he shares good tips, but I would be cautious of any entry fees, unless the individual/group is heavily vouched.

Refunding and SE-ing is somewhat similar but refund is not true... SE... it's a sub category. anyway going back to the thread. Best way is walk away, the more you doing it, you get more experience, you will fail even the Pro Se'er still fail here and there. it's most likely public but if the more you do it, that is when you creativity coming up with unique stuff. or read more how people do things and tweak to your scenario...
