I certainly agree.

The INR Is (obviously) purely not receiving the Item which Is classed as a loss, hence a police report/affidavit Is warranted under such circumstances. It's not to say that It "will" happen, but rather the possibility that It "may" happen.

Chargebacks can get rather messy and complicate matters at the best of times, so I understand your decision to avoid them. Moreover, you'd want to maintain a good relationship with your bank.

That said, If you haven't performed any or perhaps just the one, then It's something to consider.

Precisely my train of thought. Besides I would rather have everything go through PayPal successfully, and keep chargebacks / section 75's for a last resort / plan B. Luckily I have never had to resort to this and would like to keep it that way. I like to try fly under the radar as much as possible. As it stands I don't even have any disputes with PayPal! Maximum one or two from years ago, and even at that it was just bad buyers on eBay for low value items.

I'm pretty adamant to attempt this. However I'm still formulating a perfect plan as I want to hit this as precisely as possible with contingencies in place. Also debating to wait untill the festive period ay Christmas...

I can see that you've planned your SE well thus far- covered every angle and possibilities.

In terms of a Section 75, they're legally obliged to take on your claim and not disregard It without good reason. If they decline It, you can take your Issue to the FOS (Financial Ombudsman Service), whereby they'll Investigate It In an Impartial and unbiased manner.

To the best of my ability so far yes. However I will sit on it for longer incase new aspects arose that I hadn't thought of before.

I'm aware of the section 75 process however I'm hoping I do not need to initiate this. It will be my contingency plan.

As for the store I intend to shop at... From my research I have gathered that there are two main stores in the UK that other "refunder services" seem to offer people rolex watches from. Having researched both companies, I found that one of these shops, Actually has 5 sub shops, that are all part of the same company. Much like amazon.co.uk .com .de .fr etc. Or how Dixon's UK owns Curry's, pcworld and carphone warehouse.

In my opinion it would be better to shop at one of the other shops that's part of the one that people have been doing PayPal refunds from. As they most probably will not share databases/information about PayPal refunds to such an extent. Obviously it's speculation, and can't know for certain. But if, for example; shops A, B, C, D, E are all owned by shop A, and they are all virtually the same, just offer slightly different products, yet shop A has been hammered with PayPal refunds, surely it will be better to shop at any BUT shop A, for a higher chance of success.

What do you think?

How will you Identify the exact amount of PayPal refunds that have been Issued against a given store/shop?

RE: Hypothetical Rolex via Paypal - Fastera - 07-28-2020

Sounds like a good plan though my advice would be to be extra cautious with Rolex in specific.

I can not identify the exact nor approximate number of PayPal refunds that have been issued against a shop. However, the way I see this situation is as follows: if a refund service lists a certain shop and offers Rolex watches from it, it's probably because it works. However if it does not list this shops sub outlet, it's probably for one of three reasons:

1) the refund service is not aware of the shops sub outlet (a potential risk then, treading in unknown waters) (simultaneously maybe not, if the T&C's are the same as the primary shop. Meaning it should work, probably with a higher chance of success as it's not been raped)

2)it is aware, and knows it is not possible to refund from it, thus does not offer it. (Can easy find out by enquiring the refund service about this "custom store")(also unlikely as the T&C's are probably the same, still to clarify this)

3) it is aware but is keeping it private for personal gain as it's much easier to refund from it / high success rate. (potentially contradicts with the earlier statement of offering refunds from it because it's possible)

I have yet to work through the above and come to a more accurate conclusion...

For what reason, exactly?

Please elaborate

Rolex keep a detailed list of all their watches by the SN number. This list is available to all dealers and repair shops that sell and service Rolex watches. This means that if you want to sell it you have to find an individual who is not aware of this and is willing to buy it from you.
If you intend on keeping it you need to find a trusty repair shop who will be willing to work on it (it will very likely be reported as stolen from the place you purchase it and this will reflect upon crosschecking the database). In general if you are looking to buy one used you can request to check the SN hence why I said you need to be extra careful.

Here is a little bit of info but I am sure you can research more.

Yes Im aware of this. Its only obvious for such a high value item. Honestly I want one as its a great thing to have for a rainy day. Its not hard to find someone who will buy it for cheaper. I would never wear anything so expensive personally. Your message is exactly why id rather not DNA it also. I know the chances are slim but perhaps if i were to go via paypal SNAD then FTID them, there would be a slight chance that it somehow goes un noticed and not reported as missing as stolen. Probably naive, but a better chance than if it was DNAd IMO.

Also contemplated flying to the US and doing this over there, as it would make it a little less hot to own it here... potentially.

Certainly there is lesser chance to get reported if you do not DNA. I am not familiar with how they operate in terms of data sharing etc between the US and "here" (presumably Europe). Have you thought about SNAD with potentially swapping it for high end replica? Many of them are very close to the real thing unless you know what you are looking at (and often times even the experienced eye can be deceived). If you are interested in more info regarding this let me know I will be glad to share what I know Smile
