i tried amazon not too long ago and it was a failure the insisted i provide a police report is there any way around the police report

It didn't fail, but rather you neglected to comply with their request, so they closed the claim.
As I've mentioned countless times, a police report Is part of company protocol to move forward with the claim. In fact, the majority result In a successful outcome.
