Based on their response it seems that if you provide your bank info if suddenly sways the sales department that you are telling the truth. Makes no sense to me.

I would be included to reply saying "My bank account information is my own and i reserve the right to share it with whom i feel confident with. I do not feel confident in sharing this information via email or support ticket and have this information passed to multiple staff members with no idea how my data will be kept and used. I would like to politely decline sending my information and if requested further into the warranty claim then i will decide how to proceed"

This is just what i would do and see the response i get. It's entirely up to you how to process.

Perhaps advice from other members may be welcome here.

Out of interest what shop did you say you purchased it from?
Got a reply, should I give them my bank details? Don’t want them to fuck me over.

Spoiler:
I understand that you want to keep this for yourself. However, we must assess whether we can return the purchase amount because the retailer refuses to help. We also have no repair service and no replacement copy, so the only possible option would be a payment. We can send this to the correct department with your bank details and purchase details, so that they can determine whether it can be paid and can do this immediately.

I think they need to learn to be clearer...

If they had said we need the bank info because we may refund you the amount then i can understand but this wasn't so clear.

If you are happy to provide the bank info to them then i would go ahead, sounds like you may be getting some money now Wink (fingers crossed)

What could possibly go wrong then if I provide them my bank details?

Bump, still would love to receive help with this.

As it wasn't made clear on the reasons for them wanting the bank info you questioned why they needed it and eventually got to the reason. Now you know the reason you have more info to make an informed decision if you want to pass the info on to them or not.

Not 100% sure on what "could" go wrong but based on the reply they want to send you the cost of item to resolve the case

You shouldn't tie any of your REAL information to a SE, for obvious reasons.

However from what I've read; they're just tryna refund you, looks simple enough. Don't be quick to be suspicious; the whole point of SEing is to make them believe you, and so far it looks like they believe you.

What was the response? would love to know.
