If want to mine crypto (I think you mentioned you had a laptop before) the best coin to mine with a CPU is XMR aka Monero. https://nanopool.org/ is the easiest I think

Though mining crypto with a regular pc and not an ASCI is NOT PROFITABLE whatsoever right now.

I personally don't mess with Bitcoin mining anymore. It takes a toll on your computer, especially if it's a weak system. And takes a lot of wattage. Most large businesses have that all figured out though. It's a system really. But if you're still thinking about it just go with NiceHash.

but as mentioned before, mining makes your computer run like a newly shat out apple.

I tried mining for a few days on my main computer, and it got hot as hell. I guess if mining wasn't hard, everyone would be doing it. I did see a video though comparing a used graphics card versus the same card but it was used in a mining rig. The two were pretty close, but obviously the ex-mining card came out a few FPS below. For the price to performance, I'd recommend the used card. I'm not sure what would happen to a CPU though.

Yeah if you're actually going to make a gain out of it without totally ruining your personal computer, your best shot is to build a that's designed to do just that, but the cost of that is 10k+ by then id be scratching my head because if you need to spend 10k+ to start to properly mine, it has kind of ruined the purpose because youre already in the hole because of the new build.  Stressed
