Have you ever used or heard of proton vpn?

yes, I had. But I had not used the service.

It seems to be a bit of a suspect vpn it routs through tor on startup and is log free for free it seems too good to be true

See with Nord right. There are no data leaks.

I understand that but i'd rather not have to pay for a subscription as most methods of payment can be traced back to someone
But I do understand a stable well known vpn would work a lot better and safer.

not if you use a prepaid visa card.

True that would most likely work but i'd rather keep anonymity to a max depending on the method or software usable

you can buy and load a prepaid Visa or Mastercard and pay for the service.

Purchase a VPN account via the Regular Sales forum on this board.

You'll be using another account holder's credentials.

I thought using cracked vpn accounts was not smart because the account could be shut down or log your login ip or such when they realize the account was compromised

Alternatively, selected VPN providers do accept cash payments, so that's something to take under advisement.
