Why not?

Even though jailbreaking the iPhone leads to much more customization, etc. I don't really feel like being stuck on an old iOS version or dealing with the semi-tethered jailbreak (last I've heard.) and my use case doesn't really require the need of a jailbroken device. The most I would do is force hotspot and download modded apps. The IMEI change thing well I just don't if there's any consequence, nor do I possess the skillset to change it if it requires hardware modifications.

To tell you the truth, I stepped away from trying to refund the phone. It being blacklisted is too risky. Also might as well accumulate some legitimate orders on the account so I can do another purchase later that doesn't involve phones. Like I said I'm really satisfied with my purchase.

Even If you change It, you may run Into Issues. The IMEI number Is dedicated to the device It's assigned to, hence spoofing/changing It may be rejected by the carrier during the activation process.

That said, there Is a workaround. The first 8 digits of the IMEI number known as the TAC (Type Allocation Code) Is what Identifies the model & device manufacturer. When changing It, leave those digits as Is and spoof the rest. As such, the IMEI number will show up to It's corresponding device when activating.
