RE: Sherlock { Best Look-Up Tool Ever! } - sunjester - 01-11-2019 The issue was not fixed. It defeats the purpose of open source and using a public repo by closing an issue that isn't resolved. I just forgot about it (it's just not software important to me lol) anyways, I responded, meh. The page clearly states if you don't respond within 24Hrs, your post will be taken down. If you want the problem fixed, submit it, and talk to the people, so they can help you. Meh, it's nothing special in the first place lol which is why I forgot about it. Their reply was that my version was too old. I'm not updating my Python for something thats super bloated and killing other py scripts I use daily. Maybe I'll just fix it for them lol But why talk shit about something if I can't make it myself right? So let's just look at what they are doing. They are checking if a username exists on a social media website? and they used python? gnarly.. why not just check a header? I bet it works for most of them, if not all, let's see.. Facebook, username found Code: curl -Is 'https://www.facebook.com/RealDanielStern/' >social;cat social| cut -d$'\n' -f1Facebook, username not found (HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found) Code: curl -Is 'https://www.facebook.com/RealDanielStern/' >social;cat social| cut -d$'\n' -f1Youtube Code: (xenial)root@localhost:~/Downloads# curl -Is 'https://www.youtube.com/user/BenBaileyComedy!!' >social;cat social| cut -d$'\n' -f1
HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found
(xenial)root@localhost:~/Downloads# curl -Is 'https://www.youtube.com/user/BenBaileyComedy' >social;cat social| cut -d$'\n' -f1
HTTP/1.1 200 OKSee where I'm going with this? Let's write a small script to do facebook Code: #!/bin/sh
echo $1
res=$(curl -Is "https://www.facebook.com/"$1"/" >social;head -n1 social)
code=`echo $res|cut -d' ' -f2`
case $code in
200)
echo "username found"
;;
404)
echo "username not found"
;;
esacCode: (xenial)root@localhost:~/Downloads# sh social.sh RealDanielStern
RealDanielStern
username foundSo I think from here we could super easily add as many social sites as we want, with no dependencies (this will work with an out of the box unix machine) but anyway, it took me 10 minutes to write a small script to replace this python script, which is why I didn't respond to the repo. I can add all the sites they check if this is something you actually use, hell I might do it anyway. Granted yes, I could to. I specialize in Python, love the language. Honestly, I think it's the best programming language. Just thought it was a nice tool to add to the collection. For Spammers & E-Whores alike, we use lots of tools like these, so we can spam all the users accounts, increasing the chance of them doing what you want. RE: Sherlock { Best Look-Up Tool Ever! } - sunjester - 01-11-2019 Hey, no hard feelings, I run into software like this all the time that's just more than it needs to be :/ RE: Sherlock { Best Look-Up Tool Ever! } - aabee - 01-16-2020 Stupid question, but is Python Linux addition or mod or just different opsystem like Windows and Mac. RE: Sherlock { Best Look-Up Tool Ever! } - Andersenwlngton - 01-19-2020 Thanks man, it will be usefull RE: Sherlock { Best Look-Up Tool Ever! } - eisen - 11-29-2024 Isn't this vehicle very old or am I remembering wrong .d "A problem occurred while checking for an update: list index out of range ERROR: Bad response while accessing data file URL 'https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sherlock-project/sherlock/master/sherlock/resources/data.json'." I get an error like this Adding -l parameter solved the problem RE: Sherlock { Best Look-Up Tool Ever! } - eisen - 12-11-2024 I tried it and it works fine |
