HP can be difficult to deal with at times.

What sorts of problems? I was thinking of just dry ice and pressing for a dispatch before it arrives.

It's a laptop that's classed as a high value Item, so that's an Issue In Itself.

Although the method suits the nature of the SE, they'll most likely open an Investigation with the carrier and then go to great lengths to try and decline the claim. Waiting periods, emails back and forth, passed around from one department to another and so forth. This Is only a general example of what can happen. If you're lucky, It may not lead to most If not any of this, but It's likely they'll take It further with their Internal process.

Don't get me wrong, the DNA does work on a lappy but In my experience, the majority of times they'll go to great lengths to dispute It and part of that Is opening an Investigation with the carrier.

Man, I guess I got lucky with mine then *shrug* all I said was DNA and with no further contact or interaction from the carrier or otherwise I got my refund for a 3k+ laptop.
That was only about a year ago too.

As said above:

The reps must've been assessing your claim at their work's "all you can drink" Christmas party. I've experienced Investigations opened for 300$, and you got away with 3k.
A job well done, good work.
