How many days after receiving the package should you start contacting amazon? Also, I know people say call instead of using the live chat feature because its "easier and faster", but are there other reasons why one is superior than the latter?

Very little. Also depends on "small number" of orders. Also, it's important to realize that if Amazon were to prosecute you, it would cost them money. So let's say I SE'ed a 300$ item. If It costs them 600$ to prosecute me, they'll most likely not press charges. They only press charges if you've been caught trying to SE a product about >1000$

Tell amazon that the games aren't in the tray. This is the most obvious method
If you want to take it further, say that the disks were shattered. Amazon will most likely ask for photos. Photoshop the cd to make it seem broken, and if Amazon asks for a video or for you to return it, say you threw it away .

Alright thanks! But how many days after receiving the package should I wait until I contact them? And I've seen on the threads that people recommend calling over using live chat. Is there a reason why calling is better (I've heard calling is faster/easier but what makes calling better other than these two reasons?)

But, I would assume the quantity of the price per item. you could SE hella expensive ($500) items, let's say 5 and that's a total of 2.5K. I'm sure that something needs to be done about that.

You should call immediately. Who else would wait to call after realizing that their games are missing.
Calling is the better option, because calling makes the process go faster. Also let me ask you this
would you rather believe a someone trying to SE you over chat, or someone who's crying over the phone about how their gift for their mother is missing?
Essentially, calling is better, because it gives you - the social engineer- opportunities to insert minor words/details that can loosen the human firewall.
