Totally disagree with Aditi, as in my experience Avira will spam you with tons of their self promotion ads. I let you be the judge  avira vs avast which one is better. I am using avast premium and satisfied with the performance till date

Windows Defender, sanboxed browser for daily browsing and Linux VMs for risky business.

My PC is a gaming machine and I keep installed software to an absolute minimum. I've been raw doggin' for years. No issues.

The last time I was nailed was about 8 years ago and I had Kaspersky IS... did a lot for me. Thanks teefury.com

Being smart about where you go and what you click is the best AV.

This.

For this to be effective, user awareness, common sense and good judgment must be part of the equation.

Malwarebytes Premium is now a full anti-virus with protection from malware, adware, spyware, ransomware, and rootkits as well. It also protects you in all web browsers by blocking you from going to known bad websites where bad stuff lies.

I've been a computer repair tech, remote repair tech, and working with PC's for over 20 years and own my own computer repair business in Cincinnati, OH.

You don't need Avast or any other anti-virus except Malwarebytes Premium (the paid version which protects your computer from bootup to shut down).

Make sure to download the latest version from their website.

MBAM Is not an AV.

The good thing about It, Is that It can run alongside any antivirus without compatibility Issues.

I certainly agree, that MBAM should be an essential element In one's security package. It's still best to run It alongside an AV.

There's a few Infections that It does fail to detect & remove, such as file Infectors, of which traditional AVs do.
