Royal mail 24 tracking question - Byakuya Kuchiki - 08-07-2018

Hi there,

Was wondering what is the best way to claim a refund for a parcel getting delivered by royal mail 24 tracked?

I can't use the empty box method as they personally make the package up to my request. However I was thinking it did not arrive and put a different name on the signature and claim someone else signed for it and it wasn't me.

The parcel is around 1.5kg, and is fully tracked till delivered so I'm not entirely sure what my options are.

The empty box method, Is when you claim a refund/replacement by sending the package back without the Item- as though It was tampered with and stolen during transit.

Will this not work for you?

Yes if you have a friend sign for you, that will work well. I am not familiar with royal mail 24's policies. Are they more strict in terms of package loses?

Royal Mail 24 is a tracked service with additional extras.

It is only tracked once delivered, anywhere up to that point won't show any information. If you don't answer your door the postman will either scan and leave it, showing delivered, or return it to the depot and scan it and it will show awaiting collection.

You can add signed for onto it as an extra option.

The issue is the price of shipping is cheap but the company can't claim compensation from RM. It means you may have a fight on your hands, especially if it shows delivered.

They would want it back tracked. I was thinking of going along the lines of it did not arrive and sign with a made up name

Royal Mail 24 is meant to stop all losses, so at the moment RM are quite tough on it. The 3d barcode is quite new and they want to show its working well.

I suppose it depends on the company and the value and if they will involve RM if you say it was signed by someone else/not arrived. does their website shed any light on missing items?

I honestly wouldn't fight RM on their 24/48 service at the moment.

Well I've just received my package there and I was leaving the door when he arrived.

But all he did was scanned the code and gave me it. I didn't need to sign anything

The value of it was £80

Well he scanned it so the tracking will show delivered.

Which company was it from? PM me if you would rather, there are so many ways you can still SE them. Reading through their policies would help.

You need to know what you're up against, hence this Is the first port of call with every SE.

Preparation Is paramount.

I find that the website policies are quite vague. It says if I don't receive the package I've to contact them within 5 days
