Boxing - Dry Ice - jaysmith100 - 03-12-2018

Hi,

I was just wondering what people think of this method?

I would sell something on ebay say for example a laptop. I go to the post office and send a empty box with dry ice in, equal to the same weight as the laptop.

The buyer makes a claim with paypal and gets a refund. I then put in a complaint with the courier - and show them the evidence that the laptop went missing. They then refund me as I sent the parcel insured.

Should this work?

Thanks
Jay

What evidence are you planning to show that justifies the missing Item?

I assume that the package had the same weight as the laptop.
Wouldn't the ice already damage the package while being in the post office?

As he is using dry ice which directly changes from solid to gas (knows as deposition), this would prevent the package from getting damaged but I wonder what how the gas would escape?

Maybe if he put a small hole in the box or the tape - but not an obvious one?

I think it won't work cuz the smoke is quite easy to notice

Oh damn yeah. That is a bit bait.

Who has successfully boxed someone with dry ice? Did the receiver mention anything about vapour?

Ok, I'm sorry but I just have to jump in here and fix this MASSIVE inaccuracy.

You aren't deposing the dry ice, in fact you aren't doing anything to it. The dry ice is subliming.

PS:
Spoiler:
I do apologize for this being mildly off topic, but you can't have quality without accuracy

I assume that the package had the same weight as the laptop.

Yes I know, the OP stated that In his/her Initial post.

By mentioning "evidence", I was referring to what Indication will the OP provide that's consistent with a missing Item. There's no point If the package Is In a perfect (sealed) condition without any assertion of tampering.

What if he showed a receipt from the post office that had the correct weight on it?
