Group Competition? - MesaGFX - 08-24-2017
I see theres a lack of groups here and was suggesting that Oni maybe run a competition for something and winner gets awarded a group ?
It would be fun to have more groups around so people can strive to try get in them ?

One of the main reasons there's an absence In groups, Is the lack of activity In keeping the group alive on a consistent basis.
The Issue Isn't "starting" a group, but more so generating both quality and quantity on a regular basis to warrant It's existence.

Mothered is quite right. The list of groups that have come and gone on SL, is a LOT.
Few have managed to stick around for various reasons: Owners left and nobody wanted to take up the role, inactivity, member bans etc.
I believe there are a few members currently interested in purchasing groups, but we want to ensure those groups are self-sustainable.

If someone wanted a group they would buy it, from what I've seen the requirements for buying the group are super low (if there are any)
In my opinion groups should not be given away because money from group purchases would help keep the forum running.

Group costs are quite a lot, so we hope that is also a motivator to keep the group alive. Generally speaking, anyone can buy a group. Groups must follow SLs rules of course.

I never thought about the price being a motivator, that's actually a great point, if you give away groups users wont be as motivated as if they spent money on the group.

I havent been on here much but I do see theres no groups on
Maybe a new group should be created for the HQ members ? so it could stay alive ?

IIRC That's been tried before and it didn't work out well.
