Blacklist username colors close to #202020 - Inori - 08-17-2017
If memory serves, there's a few blacklisted colors that Gold upgraded and higher members are not allowed to set their username color to, and the exact background color of the main page is on that list to prevent unreadable usernames.
It's a start, but usernames a bit darker or lighter than that are also very difficult to read given our theme.

Without glasses (and with my terrible eyesight), the text is only kind of readable when its color is at #000000 (black, hsl value=0), and becomes clear when the color is at or above #525252 (hsl value=32).

I agree, @Altair your name color is annoying and unreadable.
This has been brought up before, not sure what happened...

Maybe we should define some kind of style guide? Or just blacklist ranges around staff ranks + existing group colors.

I do actually agree, some names are very, very difficult to read. Especially when you're on a mobile device.

I definitely agree.
Not only should username colors be legible, but In my views, staff colors (or any variant with close representation) should also be reserved to staff alone. Not naming anyone, I have seen a couple of members In the past setting their username color close to that of Oni and other staff ranks.
