Why Otaku's May Get A Bad Name - Jiggly - 06-12-2017
I stumbled across this wonderful list of incest: 7 Brother-Sister Romances That Went Too Far
I actually watched a couple of these (not knowing what was going to happen)... They have some rather questionable scenes.
In the list:
- Oreimo My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute
- Kagihime Monogatari - Eikyuu Alice Rondo
- Angel Sanctuary
- The Eden of Grisaia (ok, this show is really messed up)
- Koi Kaze
- Yosuga no Sora - In solitude where we are least alone
Shows like these are what sometimes gives Otaku's a bad name!
Anybody else watch these and face regrets? Unless you're into incest?

I've seen a bit of Angel Sanctuary alongside a few coworkers - we like to occasionally pull random movies and shows off the shelves after the shop closes down and watch random stuff. All I can say is it was a waste of time - the whole plot of "I want to screw my sister and hey look angels and demons and did I mention I want to screw my sister?" got pretty boring, the characters were exactly what you'd expect with personalities that were more like forced acting in a cheap movie, and there's really no element of tension within the whole "battling stuff" bit that kept me interested in it. I guess the whole bit of "fallen angels rebelling against God" is original to me, but past that it was no good.
Also, there was a Grisaia adaptation? I have a PC copy of Gurizaia no Kijatsu somewhere that I got in a box of imports and proceeded to write off as more romantic drama shit, now I may just have to attempt at playing through it because it was apparently popular enough with someone to get adapted to a show...

Although I've heard of these anime, I've only watched one, which was The Eden of Grisaia, which was an "eh". If Japan keeps on making them, there must be an audience, and I hope is a small one. Anyway, to answer your question, yes these could give Otakus a bad name, just like every other "fetish" anime series, but I believe they aren't mainstream enough for them to be the main reason for our bad name.

I know grisaia and oreimo. Tbh, the shows are fine, as one is some fictional story about some sort of assassin and the other one is simply slice of life stuff mostly. The "disturbing" part is the incest one tho.
I wouldn't take the anime at bare-value, since we all know it's a bad thing. Just try to enjoy it and don't dwell to deep on it.

That's pretty much been my philosophy on it. Some of these shows seem to make fun of the incest thing too.

Ikr. The creators of these shows are most likely normal people like you and me after all. I am sure, most of them keep taboos like incest out of their life.

Although, there is some really dark stuff in there. Artistic people can often explore ideas in their work that have nothing to do with their real lives xD

That's true, some really live out their fantasies in their "art".
