UPS Investigation? - Celeez - 02-08-2017

So i tried to SE a product from Corsair Memory Inc and i thought id just go along the lines of saying it never showed up etc. and they launched a investigation. Ive been called by ups twice and Corsair once. Ups actually wants to meet with me tomorrow. Not sure what to do at this point. I've never had an investigation happen. Any advice?

Lawyer up asap! This is not good news. Mail fraud is handled by the Secret Service (no kidding google it) federal offense.

well you chose one of the worst excuses possible, so I Would just try to play along with it and say it never came... or you could say that your wife/girl friend hid it from you as a joke, and that you now have it.l

Well, since you say it never showed up, you could go the route of claiming it still never showed up. You could continue this and eventually just become disappointed and say to not bother with it. Otherwise, I would claim slowly over time that you finally found it, but not immediately (suspicious.)

Hopefully someone with more experience (and possibly gone through some investigations) can weigh in.

However as @RuneFish said, there is a good chance they will begin to press charges, if it gets classified as mail fraud. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

I would go forth with my excuse and hold out, to try to make it more believable.

Good luck to you, and if it gets waived and you get your product or it just ends, let us know how it goes.

@pvnk may be able to help you.

Wow man... this is why I don't SE stuff like that. Stick to getting coupons and shit for complaints.

RE: UPS Investigation? - sleaze - 02-08-2017

this is the very small chance that an investigation actually goes somewhere, if i were you i'd cut my losses and say that someone returned it to you or make up some other bullshit excuse

RE: UPS Investigation? - Celeez - 02-08-2017

Thanks for all the advice guys but here is a serious question. How could they ever get proof that i actually have the product in possession to charge me. they cant charge me without proof right? Also ive read online that lost or stolen packages are pretty much NEVER found. So does that help anything?

I'm at a loss as to why an "Investigation" Is being pursued to begin with. Customers are very well protected In scenarios like this.

So you (supposedly) didn't receive an Item. Big deal, why an Investigation? This Is simply utter nonsense, and If It were to legally go further (which It won't), It'll get thrown out of court the moment the paperwork lands on the judge's desk.

You think so? UPS is the one investigating not Corsair Memory. and i got a pink slip yesterday left on my door that says this. Dear customer i delivered a parcel to your address blah blah blah. But at the end it says Thefts from interstate shipments are investigated by the FBI. Every case of theft is taken in this manner. The FBI? For a 150$ item? UPS also called me and said they are having a UPS Investigator coming to my house tomorrow to sign some paperwork. This got very serious and this has never happened to me. I've done multiple DoupleDips. What should i be expecting? Im not trying to go to prison lol.
