iPhone 7 [Discussion Thread] - pvnk - 09-07-2016

Water resistant
Dual Camera
3GB RAM
(Two Black Variants) Important to the design aspect
Home Button No Longer Physical
Removed Headphone Jack (You might be bothered by this, but Apple tends to start trends and I expect Android phones to follow this one soon.) HTC M10 has rumored to remove headphone jacks. The Turing phone already removed headphone jacks. This isn't necessarily new, but this is something that will be "trending" because Apple "started it".

I would say this is the best phone they have released since the iPhone 4S, but it's not convincing enough for me to buy it. 3GB RAM is unacceptable when the OnePlus 3 has 6GB of RAM for half the price.

Not to mention that once you get the phone it will only last you a year or two then the newest one will come out. Defiantly keeping my 6s Plus and when it is time to upgrade, i'll switch back to Android.
I think it's part of their marketing. The iPhone 7 is supposedly twice as fast as the 6S. However, there are definitely phones that were twice as the 6S when it was released. Apple knows this, but they probably hold off on adding all the processing power they can when they predict the next wave of customers for their newest phone. No one needs a new iPhone every year or every half year when they release the (S) version of a phone, but loyal customers are royal money spenders. It not only keeps Apple alive and kicking, it keeps their business trend alive and kicking. They know what they can get away with and they probably take full advantage of it knowing full well that some mindless individual will buy their newest releases each time over and over again.

Not a serious upgrade worth right now. I'm not paying $700 for water resistance. I dislike the new Home Button, Also, the Piano Black reportedly seems to be having color fading issues. I got a 6s a few months back and it's running really great with iOS 10. I might consider upgrading in future but I'm really happy with my current device.

And whatever you do don't get the Jet black colour. Its a fingerprint magnet - looks terrible unless you have a cover and then whats the point? Matte black is far better

For this reason alone, I wouldn't purchase It.

That said, I must say It Is a very attractive looking phone and based solely on appearance, It's very enticing.

Iphone is overrated and overpriced. There are way better android phones on the market that would beat the Iphone7 on several tests.

The battery dies quicker after every update and that's just the beginning. They don't even have headphone jacks. I love my headphones so it will be a NO for me.
We have to admit that they're pretty sneaky and smart though. Only reason that they won't provide headphone jacks is so they can make more profit from their own (new) wireless headphones, which is pretty smart if you ask me, but still, they're just scamming everyone. That's what I think about it.

I like OSx (sometimes), but I pretty much dislike every Iphone.

I'm going to have to interject here. Sure, one may have twice the available system memory but how much of that is usable? 512mb of ram is still perfectly acceptable for a linux system yet a windows system won't even boot with that. It's the same with xnu vs jre. Java requires a fuckload of overhead, whereas direct execution (with a small runtime) on iOS does not.

Performance wise sure, I'll admit that there are better phones out there, but I'd rather own a blackberry than an android phone. The reason why comes down to security. As somebody who spent a good deal of my professional experience doing nothing but breaking the security of mobile devices, it would just be counterproductive to own the least secure device class on the market. the iPhone, while it does have its holes, is far more secure than any android phone you're ever going to find.

Actually, yes they do. the iPhone 7 switched from analog to digital audio. If you've got a good sound card you'll notice the jack with the red light in it. That's full digital audio, the same as the 7. I've had a chance to play with it a few times and I can notice a massive difference, and I love it. You fandroids love to bash apple when they lag behind on certain technologies, yet you also bash on them when they discontinue and replace old technologies?

Not true, the wireless headphones (for one, suck) weren't intended to be the primary. Plug in a set of digital headphones and you'll notice a difference.

Whether It's utilized Is Immaterial.

My point Is, If I could purchase a device with twice the specs for half the price, logic has It, I'd certainly go ahead with It.

Your only argument, from what I have deduced, for purchasing an iPhone is simply due to the security. That is simply because the iOS from the userland aspect is sandboxed. Android OS runs on an open environment. That inherently makes makes the OS less vulnerable. Although, you then sacrifice customization and control from your device.

Jailbreaking an iPhone opens up the sandbox and I guarantee if MobileSubstrate wasn't there as a platform for third party tweaks, malicious code would be much more prevalent because it would be directly injected into the main OS. Not to mention, jailbreaking is innately a massive vulnerability in the OS.
