Gettin' dat paper - roger_smith - 09-25-2015 Just invoiced a client for that repair work I mentioned (the BSoD). Al said and done I'll get just shy of 200 bucks. Not bad for only a few hours worth of work .They're very good clients and always pay quickly. RE: Gettin' dat paper - OnlyTheFewWillSurvive - 09-25-2015 Computer tech support is the best way to make money these days. I doubt any time soon computers will be going any where unless a emp hits. I doubt any time soon computers will be going any where unless a emp hits. Honestly I disagree with it being the "best" way. There's a lot of skids and knobs out there who will do repair work for literal peanuts. I don't get much repair work because i'm not willing to work for free. You get these devry/new horizons/teach-me-tech-quick "graduates" that don't know shit about computer repair working on machines for chump change. Their work is shit, unethical and sometimes even illegal, but if they get teh system "good enough" the unsuspecting end user gladly pays. Computer repair is DEFINITELY side work for me at this point, I would not want to try and do repair full time anymore. We're quickly approaching a time where the computer will be a throw away commodity that people get rid of and buy new over a simple malware infection. The key is definitely in "tech support" like you said, in that you support the new device and configure it and all that. Even that market is tough though (see my skid and knob rant). RE: Gettin' dat paper - Earth - 09-25-2015 I will pay you $200 (Just kidding) to install a T9550 Processor in this laptop, I took apart my old laptop which shit the bed which has a T5550 that fucking thing had a million screws, I ended up ripping the finger print scanner wire because I lost patience and then broke the displays wires. I don't like taking apart laptops so no fucks given if it is my property, desktops are so much easier. Next up on the roster (for this same client) is a screen replacement on their laptop. Patience is needed, that's for sure ;p RE: Gettin' dat paper - Earth - 09-25-2015 (09-25-2015, 02:44 AM)roger_smith Wrote: Next up on the roster (for this same client) is a screen replacement on their laptop. It's a full jobber on this one, lol RE: Gettin' dat paper - Earth - 09-25-2015 (09-25-2015, 04:12 AM)roger_smith Wrote: gotta tear the machine apart to get to the mounting brackets for the lid. It uses double sided foam tape in the lid too do you have to kinda cut through all that. HP dick heads. RE: Gettin' dat paper - mothered - 09-25-2015 Given I've replied to your thread regarding the BSOD, I remember It's exact context. I must say, that's pretty good earnings for a somewhat simple analysis. You've done well. |
