Books - Oni - 02-22-2015 Read any books? With my current schedule, I don't get much of a chance to read. I have been reading Necromancer by William Gibson lately, though. Decent cyberpunk book. I just started reading a book about goat keeping, because I want a goat. I also have a bunch of Cisco cert books, some automotive books, etc. I can't say I don't read for entertainment, because learning about stuff to me IS entertaining. I just tend to stay away from fiction. RE: Books - Master - 02-24-2015 ![]() OK, anybody that has read any of my previous reviews of Sanderson's work knows just how much I admire his writing. I've really run out of superlatives to describe his work, both the quality of it and the sheer amount of output he generates. I don't know of any other human on the planet that can write/publish so many books and sustain such high quality. He is simply amazing. This novel that I currently read is, of course, no exception. From the very first page, I was lost in this new world Sanderson has created. Yes, it's a young adult novel, but the only reason to classify it as such is that the main character, David, is 18 years old. But in every other way, this is a main-stream novel, filled with violence, action, and thought-provoking characters. In essence, this could be called a "super-hero" novel (mostly evil super-heroes) so I suppose that's another reason to classify it as YA. And we are treated to some inner thoughts from David that testify to his late-teenage attitudes towards others and self doubt. But I found them to be very true to the nature of the character, and essential to the plot. I recommend this book to all. RE: Books - . . - 02-24-2015 The only books I've enjoyed reading were Harry Potter, Pendragon, and the Eragon series. RE: Books - Master - 02-24-2015 (02-24-2015, 09:44 PM). . I'd recommend watching the movie before reading the book, otherwise it's a smack to the face. RE: Books - Nyx - 02-25-2015 I used to read the Percy Jackson series & Heroes of Olympus but they recently wrapped up the series. RE: Books - FluidGFX - 02-25-2015 Currently reading a book called Dying Within, Currently a third through it, quite enjoying. I'll check the author when i get home. RE: Books - Eclipse - 02-26-2015 Books. Damn. I've read too many books to even attempt guessing at how many. My all time favourites are by John Green. Also, the Skulduggery Pleasant series stuck with me. RE: Books - Anime - 02-26-2015 Last book I read was the satanic bible. It was an interesting read, but it had ridiculous things throughout it. I personally recommend the Ranger's Apprentice series to you all though! |
