Mourning a loss - roger_smith - 01-09-2015

I debated whether I should discuss this here or not, and have decided it's probably ok to share. I've been a bit less active the last few days and figured I should at least explain what's going on.

Sunday my GF received a call from her sister. Within moments she was crying hysterically. This of course alarmed me, and my first thought was that something happened to her nephew. As it turns out, the call was actually about her father, and he had unexpectedly passed only hours earlier. I'm not going to go into major detail on the situation, but just understand that it was sudden, unexpected, and tragic.

All this week we've been dealing with funeral arrangements, securing her fathers house and goods, and overall just trying to move on from here. Today was the memorial, it was very nice as far as memorials go.

Just a busy and sad week for all of us. We've also been driving 2-3 hours each day since he lived in a different city.

Sadly, he did not. However he's at peace now.

Thanks for the condolences. We saw him at xmas and he was happy then, so I'm glad we got to see him. We ALMOST skipped that xmas party, and it would have been awful if we had.

Very sad to hear. Only time tends to make things better when it comes to death. At least that's what I've found.

Dammit. I'm sorry for your loss Roger. I can't say much else. I can understand. My uncle died that same way. My dad and I visited him at the hospital because he wasn't feeling well. A week later he died because of pancreatic cancer. I was so shocked because of how healthy he seemed the week before. It sucks man.

I'm going to be completely broken for a while the day I lose an immediate family member. At least from what I can imagine. Sorry to hear.
