Your house is on fire! - dmaxx - 07-15-2014

You wake up from a a burnt smell and find out your house is on fire, to late to stop it and you only got at max 2 minutes(likely less) to take what you deem most important and get out, what do you take?

also, how much are you prepared when the times starts to tick down(fire or not) and how much would go lost?(original reason for this thread)

I also slap a slap a poll on this one to make it short and easy if you don't wan't to reply:epic:

Run to my desk, grab my phone and wallet. Then pull all the fucking cables out of my computer and run with that shit downstairs. I can assure you I can do this under 1 minute if the adrenaline kicks in.

well, i got a little more to grab, but there's a reason why i have everything i need at all windows so i can pretty much throw everything out of them and a bunch of empty boxes to fill and clean half of my apartment in around 60-90 sec...well that's optimal tough, nothing is optimal EVER!:epic:

My most precious (material) thing for now must be my laptop Smile
I would take it and go Smile Although I don't think if I get into that situation I would
care about my laptop as I care for myself.

Honestly, my computer would be top of my list, other than that, I don't care because everything else is replaceable.

I'd grab my documents [legal papers, certificates and other documents related to my education], my External HDD, Laptop, wallet, and some food from the fridge and run out.

Well if I wake up and smell the burn and I'm unharmed so far, plus I would still be able to run down and get myself into safety, then it would mean that the sleeping room upstairs is still safe and so are the stairs and the hallway to the door(this is one path actually and the fastest way to get the hell out).

If it is upstairs I can still safe the house because of the lack of inflammable goodies or possibility to spread fire(homegym in one room, computers in the other). When my computer room is on fire it can all burn but the fire stays near the window and won't be able to spread itself to the center of the hall upstairs.

If it would be downstairs I would make sure that the stairs are/stay wet (my shower is also upstairs and can probably spray from the bathroom right on the stairs). So in all cases I would still safe (parts of) the house.

If I had a different house where I had no other choice, I would first safe my pregnant wife, then my wallet and protein powder.

Provided I do have 2 minutes and as blue said the adrenaline kicks in, I will immediately shut off the gas pipes if they are accessible, grab a fire extinguisher and go berserk.

I agree with 1234hotmaster, I'd go beserk and try to put the fire out with sheets and everything i can find and maybe open all of my windows. Incase the it's too late I'd grab my stationary computer, external HDD & my school laptop and quickly get out. I'm so close to the door that it would probably take 1 minute tops.
