My Own Forum - ShawnReynolds - 07-14-2014 Hello, everybody. I have been looking for a good website that I can use to make a forum for my guild. I use ProBoards, but I get way too much spam from them. Also after a while they deleted it. So I need a good one that will not spam me or delete it after a while. Edit: I need a free website, seeing as I currently do not have any means of getting currecy. Thanks, Vallex Koten. RE: My Own Forum - removableuser - 07-14-2014 freeforums.org is fine. purchase a 10 buck .com. They host it a year. If you site eventually becomes big enough, free prem. options. You can't make money, but you can redirect your Adsense or something to it prior. RE: My Own Forum - Insider - 07-14-2014 Spammers will find their way to your forums no matter what, doesn't really matter which platform you're running. I advise you to make a trash section available for staff and quickly move all the spam threads there. Edit: I think I might have missunderstood, anyway try out hostinger.com and use the autoinstaller to set up MyBB, Simple Machines or phpbb! Tho he can also buy cheap domain .com and use it on hostinger.com or just buy domain + hosting somewhere else and setup forum. RE: My Own Forum - zomgwtfbbq - 07-14-2014 I would recommend arvixe.com, it's cheap and reliable. Also I don't agree that you can't keep spammers out(automatic bots like xrumer). I made a tutorial some time ago: http://www.hackcommunity.com/Thread-Tutorial-A-different-way-of-keeping-spammers-away-from-registering you can harden it even more if you put your thinking cap on. I would suggest rather host your own since free forums don't really allow you to have your own custom templates. RE: My Own Forum - b34x7 - 07-14-2014 What's gonna be the subject of your forum ? I ran a collectively known and well structured clan a few years ago. Getting about 30k unique hits monthly (for about 5 months) had the intro site set up to a blogger site so I got that for them to redirect. I never had a spam problem. Easy to use. |
