Donating Blood! - Shebang - 10-02-2014

I'm scheduled to go donate blood at 1:45 (about 35 minutes from now). How many of you have donated blood before? Smile

I've done it once. The feeling afterwards makes you feel EXTREMELY lightheaded, so always munch down on the free food they give you afterwards.

Personally, I'm not too worried about it (the snacks look good though). I seem to handle blood loss pretty well. I was admitted after surgery and accidentally ripped out my IV going to the bathroom. Lost about a litre of blood (~2 times more than the donor amount) before they could stop it and re-do my IV. I felt fine Tongue

I'm more worried I'm going to miss part of my lecture at 2:30 Tongue

That sounds awesome! I'm only sixteen, so I haven't donated any blood but I may do so in the future.

I've forcefully donated blood to the ground multiple times. That really hurts though. But yes I've given blood through my high school before. A few of my friends did it with me, it actually wasn't that bad.

Do it! It's a good thing to do.

Unfortunately I just turned 18 a few days ago, so I've had to put it off until now.

Looks like there may be a complication.. I was born with WPW, but had correctional surgery 18 months ago to fix it. They have to get a bunch of extra forms and stuff now :/

There are real people who drink human blood from donors.

So I'm back at my dorm.. I have to wait a few weeks to get approval to donate. They don't think I'm a risk to others, but that I'm a risk to myself. They need to confirm otherwise :p

Why are you a risk to yourself. That's worrysome.
