Anyone Ever Gotten in Trouble? - Gengar - 04-17-2014 Just talking about computer related trouble with the law.. Has anyone here ever been warned or actually gone to jail for something they did on a computer? RE: Anyone Ever Gotten in Trouble? - Adorapuff - 04-17-2014 Yeah, 100 hours community service, a 5 page essay, and an apology letter. Not fun. What for if you don't mind saying? Am I being naive by thinking I'm anonymous with a premium vpn, virtualbox, and usually using tor? That would be aweful... RE: Anyone Ever Gotten in Trouble? - w00t - 04-17-2014 Yes. A VPN can be thought of, at best, as an alternate ISP, and the software you use maters a lot less than your habits. For example, I can deduce an approximate age from just your username. Not that it matters, because you've also posted your age. I can also safely assume you live in a suburban area, as you said you cut grass for money. You ski and play runescape on private servers. You use Neptune keylogger And that was just from 12 posts. A couple of hackers in my country got arrested, and they were using all the methods possible to stay anonymous. If the popo wants to arrest you they'll probally will. And can. RE: Anyone Ever Gotten in Trouble? - Cressi - 04-17-2014 I once got arrested and held in custody for a little less than three hours for a security audit which I failed (obviously) until my employer came by and explained it (after having finished lunch...). RE: Anyone Ever Gotten in Trouble? - Satan - 04-17-2014 I got expelled in high school for downloading porn into teacher files. So there's that. They had the network branch hidden from view, but if you went through the run window (XP) you could just go straight into their files. Add that with using HTTPS to bypass their web filter, and use an add on to use https everywhere, and voila, internet unblocked. They didn't catch me because of my errors, I did clean up after myself, they just assumed it was me. Then threatened me with police if I told them I didn't do it. RE: Anyone Ever Gotten in Trouble? - xornull - 04-17-2014 I have the ultimate method to never getting caught not doing anything illegal on the other hand there was a topic on how to hijack a plasma botnet and there was some guy who gave login credentials to one, i logged in just for a peek and got out quick, so it happened like 3 days ago and i could be raided for this at any time Q.Q RE: Anyone Ever Gotten in Trouble? - DarkMuse - 04-17-2014 So once I was at school and, tbh, the ITs are not dumb but do dumb things. For example: they filtered websites on Internet Explorer but nothing on Chrome... Anyways, one day I was in my english class and I made a program that used the function to flip the computer screen 90 degrees but I set it to a random direction and did it over and over so it lagged and wouldnt stop. Long story short: teacher saw the screen got worried and sent me to the IT lair, where they couldn't figure out why the screen was flipping around and just rebooted it. They later figured out what I did and told me if I did it again they would take away my tech privileges. Thats pretty much the worst thing I've been caught for, besides the time I made an example script to dos the schools network and some twat executed it and brought the network down, during testing week on computers. (I never got caught but they probably could get me at any time.) |
