Need help- OCZ asking me to return product. - samg381 - 02-06-2014 I'm trying to SE a SSD from OCZ Technologies, after the whole troubleshooting list they're starting an "RMA" process. I don't want to have to return anything because I don't actually own an SSD and I'm not able to do any box methods. ![]() Any help is appreciated. RE: Need help- OCZ asking me to return product. - cr33pyguy - 02-06-2014 Hmm... I'd go for another place. Or artificially create a receipt, if you find the template and want to try that. (photoshop, make a PDF of it, print out and take a picture.) (helps, pictures are harder to read than proper PDFs )
RE: Need help- OCZ asking me to return product. - Cressi - 02-06-2014 If you cannot do the box method, you only have one option; and that is to tell them you've thrown it away or sent it to recovery or something like that. If you don't mind me asking; what prevents you from boxing it? Most issues can be resolved. RE: Need help- OCZ asking me to return product. - samg381 - 02-06-2014 The box method just isn't possible at the moment because I'm not at my apartment for a few days, and also, I'm just not too comfortable with it. Any advice on the thrown it away / sent to recovery strategy? I think something along those lines would work. Oh, okay... Well, basically what you would want to tell them is that you've it to memory recovery, and that you therefore are unable to send it back. RE: Need help- OCZ asking me to return product. - samg381 - 02-06-2014 What is memory recovery? Pardon the ignorant question. I told them the device was not recognized. I'll post the chat log in a bit. RE: Need help- OCZ asking me to return product. - Cressi - 02-06-2014 (02-06-2014, 10:15 PM)samg381 Wrote: What is memory recovery? Pardon the ignorant question. "There are no ignorant questions that are not worthy of being heard." Memory recovery refers to when you get someone to temporarily fix your broken storage, so that the information contained on it can be derived from it, before it collapses totally. RE: Need help- OCZ asking me to return product. - samg381 - 02-06-2014 Thank you very much for your help on that. Let me post the email correspondence so that you can understand it better. (My original message, not the final version but the last one I saved) Code: Hello,
Two weeks ago I purchased the Vertex Plus R2 with 120 Gigabytes SSD drive from Amazon. Upon opening
the box everything seemed in order, I plugged in the Sata and power cables, went into my BIOS and checked to see if the SSD was recognized, and it wasn't. I work with computers everyday, and have built many computers in the past, so I have more than enough experience with this kind of hardware. So, I tried the default troubleshooting strategy; I tried new cables, including out of the box Sata cables and a new power cable from my PSU. The same issue persisted. Next, I tried hooking the SSD up into my friend's computer, to which the SSD was not recognized again. As an added measure, I put the SSD in a bag full or rice on order to remove any moisture and/or wetness that might have been dealt during shipping, however I do trust Amazon and have never had an issue. With my experience I can safely say this product is either damaged or defective. His responses: Code: Comment: Power cycle the SSD by leaving it completely disconnected for an hour. Reconnect the SSD to your main SATA port. Go into your bios and make sure the SATA configuration is set to AHCI.
If the drive is detected in your bios, please perform a secure erase with our toolbox – http://ocz.com/consumer/download/firmware
The secure erase will wipe and reset your drive at the controller level (ALL DATA WILL BE ERASED). Reformat the drive after and let us know if it’s stable.
Regards,
OCZ Technical SupportThen, I sent him a message saying I had left the SSD unplugged and tried all SATA cables and it still didnt work etc.. Code: Comment: To begin the RMA process, please send an image or PDF of your dated receipt to: tsinvoice@ocztechnology.com - You must include your Ticket ID along with my name in the subject line in order for us to identify your email.
