I will never understand | Religion resignation - Evangelist - 11-19-2013
I was a some-what known member in this section (SRPP) I was known for being one of the most, if not the most educated Satanist and Left-Hand path scholar. I used to spend hours reading bibles, watching documentaries and educating myself in various religions and practicing their rituals. Looking for a way to peg at the White light religionists, lately I have not been debating or even doing research. My main goal was to disprove the Christian morals, belief system, and values. I grew to hate Islam more than Christianity, though I never felt like Islam was a religion worthy of speaking about so I focused on Christianity. That all changed a while back when I started reading about Science. I used to think I was very intelligent and vastly educated on various aspects of both life and beliefs, and that started to happen because when you receive constants messages of people seeking religious guidance and telling you, you are smart and intelligent it goes to your head whether you want it to or not.
I started reading science and I realized, how very little knowledge I had, being intelligent implies having knowledge, but it is not. Being intelligent, wise, smart is knowing the extent of your own ignorance. I have decided to not antagonize Christians, Muslims or Jews because of their beliefs, in all honesty I gain nothing from it and I do not understand their beliefs. Have you tried being in the position of a boss before you were even the client? That is how I felt. I do not understand why they believe in God, or how they feel with God, I know I don’t understand them so for me to try and disprove their beliefs without even understanding them is nothing more than foolish. It will never be done. I can logically dissect any beliefs but, religion is not based on facts, or logic, it’s based on blind belief. You believe in God and that is what makes it real. Your belief in it, to a person who doesn’t believe no matter how much you explain it to them they will never see it your way and vice versa.
I am resigning from my LaVeyan Satanism religion, because it makes you be arrogant. The conviction that there is no god is not worse than the conviction that there is one. Atheists and Theists are equally annoying, it’s easy to make fun of that which you do not understand and since I am mature enough to admit I don’t understand I am willing to resign my religion. I am now an Agnostic Atheist because in all my years of research now I find it the most logical approach.
I will not apologize for all the Christians I gave a hard time to because frankly I am not sorry, however if I made you feel bad or insulted you, it’s because of my lack of understanding. I still do not understand but, I will not act like I do

No one will ever fully understand religion, not even me. I believe in God but sometimes have trouble believing in God because of hard times. What you said makes sense. Thanks for the share.

All of this is based on my own opinion
To me, religion is plain belief without facts. Its something that is necessary and damaging to humanity. There are ton of people who ask, if god really exists and there are people who can't even understand why people have religions. I figured out the two meanings that, too me, makes the most sense as to why religions exists in the first place. These theories or meanings where made several years ago, and I still haven't managed to find a more logical answer to this day.
Theory/Meaning #1 - Power/Control
Humans have always been greedy creatures, and that is a fact. Religions held tremendous power a few hundred years back, and it still holds some power right now.
Theory/Meaning #2 - Need something to believe in/Weakness
Humans are weak and fragile beings as well, and people have even claimed that just the believe in God has helped them through hard times. People are weak, and they need something which is more than them to believe in order to move on.

Thanks Feat. But this was something Evangelist and I did for bonding, a spiritual pastime if you will. It won't be the same without him. :'(

It's one of my pet peeves when agnostics claim they they are taking the superior ground over atheists, and oh boy do they like to do that. I won't argue though, that strong atheism can be thrown on the same bus with theism. But, not many people are strong atheists and their reasoning is usually fallacious or some personal experience.

This section is often referred as the SRPP section. I barely post exclusive threads, if you see a thread here there is a huge chance it's on HF too. Problem?
