RTX 5090 SE? - Woo - 01-03-2025 Hi there, I'm getting somewhat excited for the new RTX lineup, as I want to upgrade from a 1080TI to a 5090, but I was wondering which way might be easiest to SE it. Am@zon would probably be the easiest, but it's preferable to avoid a PR considering the value and having charge backed (CB) am@zon in the past year, plus I've only had some small purchases on there. I was thinking of going for a big retailer like Curry's because they might use a courier like DPD or some shit like that where I can DNA it and worst case, CB through AMEX (no CB history) However, why I'm asking for some alternative ideas just in case the DNA idea can't go ahead. Thanks for reading my non-fictional story! RE: RTX 5090 SE? - Gertzerroz - 01-04-2025 It's a pretty tough SE to DNA. The value is so high. PR might always be required OR you could do order it to a friends house and claim an unauthorized purchase from your CC. I'm going to wait for China to buy a bunch of them for AI stuff and buy the coreless ones on ebay and do a SN swap. Probably within a couple months of the 5000 series being released. This is certainly a good idea, sadly I’m quite an impatient person! I have a vacant drop house which could work, however this could flag up as a “high risk order”because the billing address doesn’t match the delivery address. I think DNA/sealed box filled with crap to billing address -> straight up chargeback might work just to avoid the PR, as I’ve had one in the past year for a relatively high value item. Plus, the Amex has been built up with plenty of large legit purchases over the past few years, so hopefully they’ll back the customer. Amex doesn't care how long you've been a customer with them. They look at the facts and more likely the seller will provide all the evidence to the bank. If you are thinking of the other method. Do it clever, that's all I'm saying. RE: RTX 5090 SE? - Jojo1980 - 01-05-2025 Just to add to this (specifically for UK residents) DO NOT raise a chargeback unless it's watertight. I had my fingers burnt in the past, and the merchant provided evidence that I was being fraudulent with the chargeback attempt, and I ended up with a CIFAS marker for misuses of facility. Thankfully, it only lasted for 12 months, and I was in a safe job, and it dropped off so took the L and didn't try and contest it. But, it taught me valuable lesson in being careless with chargebacks with your bank/Credit Card. Now, I just take the L and return the item if all DNA/EB/MEB options have been exhausted. How much evidence did they have? and what were you claiming? This is why DNA is power RE: RTX 5090 SE? - SuspectN - 01-07-2025 Has anyone tried to SE from NVIDIA? Might give it a shot else Amazon But fucking hell the 5090 is around 2200 RE: RTX 5090 SE? - mordzeis - 01-07-2025 i would love to have an SE method for 5090, was waiting ages to upgrade |
