"We are glad to see that you located the device that your originally reported as not in the box. As you have received the device we will need to be reimbursed for the credit that you received on DATE via wire transfer. While this issue remains unresolved all accounts associated to this matter are subject to service interruptions

To use a wire transfer to pay for this issue, please have your bank electronically transfer the total dollar amount of the credit (PAID AMOUNT) to Apple using the following information. Your payment may not be transferred by any other method."

Anyone had this happen to them? Waited to active the phone after the refund posted. @mothered

This seems a bit weird if Apple refunded you themselves. They usually don't circle back like this and the email is from disputes team.

Also, did you use the product on same apple account you refunded it from? The account might be blocked/limited but shouldn't have to worry much apart from that. I would say you can use the phone freely but if they are communicating like this with you, they may go further and flag IMEI.

I thought Apple couldn't blacklist IMEI? It was only carrier specific
They usually don’t do it, but every company can. How long did you wait to use the phone after the funds cleared in your account?

They usually don't which is why I said you could use it freely. I just have never seen them message like this which is why i can't completely rule it out for this case.

like I said if it's your personal apple account, you might have to forfeit it. They can't force you to pay.

This looks like a new policy by Apple to do due diligence after issuing refunds - possibly specific to the EB method. This is the type of thing that is very easily automated so waiting to use the device after refund probably wont help.

My guess is that if you dont pay they will simply blacklist the device. Possibly also apply restrictions to the account you activated it on.

As the previous post user said, it could be a new policy. The companies eventually figure it out and start to fight it. In the future I wouldn't even go and do refunds on the companies that sell their own devices like phones or others and have a connection with them somehow. They know every exploit and every way how to make their devices unusable, it takes them minutes to do it. Imagine if it's your main phone and one day it doesn't work, you can't call anyone or etc. It would big L for you and a bad moment.
