Hi, I'm doing a warranty claim and they agreed to send replacement but I need to provide proof of purchase
I'm thinking of making an online purchase with a retailer and change the date on online receipt and use that and then cancel the order. would manufacture check with the retailer to see order is accurate?

Depends on the manufacturer and the retailer. I know that Amazon invoices can be checked by the manufacturers.

it's an outdoor company so I have a few options like rei or backcountry. I'll just try it and hope for the best. worst case they deny it

This is your best bet. Acquire a real pdf receipt then edit the date and order number. They could cross reference if they cared enough but I've never come across a company that does actually cross reference and make sure the order number is correct.

osprey, they accepted to issue a replacement but i just need to provide proof of purchase. do you think if I order a new one and change the purchase date on email they would cross reference it?

They're requesting the receipt for a reason and not just for the sake of It, so there's a good chance It will be cross-checked.

Simply say you've received It as a gift.
