Dell XPS - mammta21 - 12-02-2022

Hello everyone, I do have a valid SN already activated with a fantasy email on a new dell account. Checked the warranty and is still valid and also has the upgraded warranty. So I could get the prepaid label and I guess they would send it with the empty box in order to return it to the repair shop. I can use the excuse that doesn't turn on at all. what would be the best way to accomplish this? Should I box them with dry ice or something else? Also I've never done this before and would love to get some details info about it. @mothered I also read about boxing on your blog and you're explaining it very well but still would love this to succeed as I really would love to get this laptop. Thanks in advance.

What's the weight of the laptop?

I just checked on dell website and that model should be 4.22 pounds which is around 1.9kg.

A significant amount of dry Ice would be required.

As such, you'd need to accurately calculate the sublimation time.

mmm would you still suggest it? or is there any other way? Like something else I could use to box them or something completely different? Also I was thinking, when using dry ice, i know that the package would get really cold and dry ice usually slightly releases the gas. Won't that be suspicious to the courier?

It's not too late to use the disposed of the faulty Item method to circumvent the return.

If so, do note that It will be a lengthy and arduous process.

Gas Is more so released when the dry Ice Is exposed to atmospheric conditions.

Well, I do know that after checking the serial the product is covered with dell highest warranty, also against accidental damages(which probably could help). The thing is I don't want to waste the S/N by failing so which method could grant a more successful outcome? And about the dry ice, so in order to avoid that do you put it in a ziplock bag or something?

You have a very valid point.

No, do not place dry Ice In an airtight environment - the CO 2 build up during sublimation can cause It to explode/burst.

Just add extra packing (cardboard) around It.

RE: Dell XPS - mammta21 - 12-04-2022

@mothered yeah that's what I was thinking, so like close it in 1 or 2 smaller cardboard and eventually add some bubble wrap? So do you believe that boxing with dry ice would be the best method to try so far?
About the sublimation I should check it and add enough ice just for when the weight will be checked at the courier store, correct? Or are there other weight checks before it arrives to destination? Also because want the ice to completely melt before it gets to the repair center lol so let's say if the laptop weight is 1.9kg and considering the temperature now is around 10 Celsius should I add just like 150/200gr?
