John Lewis Eb - Trical - 11-30-2022

I tried Eb airpods from john lewis , seeing the success from one of the members on here. They told me an investigation will take place for 2 days and then I can get a replacement or refund.

They got back to me today and told me that the investigation didn't find anything and now I should contact my bank to dispute it. Also something about how they can't check if the item is in the box or not. To which I pointed out the obvious, if they don't know, then how can they sell it to me and say it was there or not. The rep said that they are not disputing if the item was there or not, they don't know and therefore I should contact my bank so a proper investigation can take place.

This all took place over the phone. I have an aged account with 1 large purchase of £980

Any help on how I should procced?

Nonsense.

How does an external source (a chargeback) help with their Internal Investigation protocol and procedures? Tell them to do their job they're paid to do - Investigate It and reply with the outcome.

I've just asked for it to be escalated and worded it quite strongly as well. Lets see what they say.

Most likely they'll reply with some fanciful story, but we'll tackle It effectively.

They got back to me and said that, "We cannot do anything about this and the only way for you to get your money back is by contacting the bank and doing a charge back. Which may be disputed."
I said to them how do they know if the item was in the box or not? to which they replied "we looked over the footage and the item had it's seals on it."
I explained that what I got after I opened the seals was just and empty box.
They were like "you would need to contact your bank then if you want your money back, because as it stands, nothing can be done."

I tried calling them again after and got basically the same response. Should I just do a charge back with my bank?

Wait, did you do a charge back for the LIT or another order?

RE: John Lewis Eb - Doomza - 12-01-2022

They use CCTV at JL so they can see the item was packaged with seals. So you are claiming the apple box was empty?

JL should be avoided for EB really.

Yeah, I avoided them for a long time, only recently thought it might work as one of the members was able to get a refund quite easily. I'll be doing a charge back through PayPal I think.
Looking back, I should have done a DNA because I signed it with a fake name and there was no picture or anything for royal mail.
