Help with Amazon CA SEing a intel CPU - nowinterwyvern - 10-13-2022

Hello!
first time SEing, and I need some help in planning a SE for a intel CPU from Amazon.ca, which should cost around 1000 Canadian Dollars. Presumably I will be buying one from amazon directly rather than third party seller, I want to weigh my options before going with anything.
I currently have a similar cheap intel CPU (also LGA1700, only difference being the model number printed on top and the serial number on the cpu), so I could theoretically do a seal box method. I also happened to own a set of delidding tools, which allows me to swap the lid of the cpu that I buy in the future with my current one. It should be pretty hard to notice since the only thing different is the serial number. Maybe I can microwave it then claim defective product when returning?
In addition, I think when I buy from amazon they never required a signature, or OTP even with heavy/big/relatively expensive stuff. The delivery person simply dropped it in front of my place. I have an about 1 years old amazon account with over 200 purchases and around 10 returns (all legit, never SE on this account before).
What is the best way to go about SEing this intel CPU? It looks like DNA, sealed box, boxing method and the defective route are all sort of viable. I'm worried that amazon will do something like an incorrect return and a charge months after the original return.
Thanks in advance for any advice and suggestions!

Can It be viewed externally without opening the box?

Quote:It looks like DNA
On a non-OTP delivery.

Quote: sealed box
Not against Amazon - they check sealed box returns.

Thanks for the help!
I don't think the cpu it self can be view directly from outside. Let's say its a 12900KS, there is a interior box that comes with the outside box, which obscure the direct view to the chip itself.
I never received a delivery from them with OTP, even like a $400 dollars small item purchase that could be easily stolen from porch. I think they are also mostly delivery from amazon itself.
I see, its unfortunate they check sealed box returns. Can I swap the lid of those CPUs to make them look identical except the small printed serial number on the side, and claim defective that way?
Thanks for the help again

Maybe alternatively I can try in store return with some other local chain computer store, or even just newegg, but then I have no idea how they check return, seal box or not.

Find out for sure If It can be viewed - It will determine whether the EB/missing Item method Is compatible.

If that's the case, the DNA Is good to go.

If you claim It's defective, It will give them every reason to (thoroughly) check the return, thus there's a high chance they'll Identify the Incorrect Item.

You're welcome.

Newegg are difficult to deal with at the best of times.

They're very stubborn and remain firm with their assessments and decisions. Of course, that relates to reps who follow protocol and not those who're brain-dead and struggle to spell their own name.

I can be sure that the cpu itself is not visible from the outside.... Although I think DNA is a much more reliable way of SEing this, no? Out of all the options I guess the DNA is the best way to go with this purchase...
Is amazon easier than newegg when doing SE? I think with a legit account and 200+ legit purchases the odds are decent... I'm not afraid to file police report and such if it comes to that...
What exactly do I do when claiming DNA? Just after a day of delivery claim its not there in customer support? Does it matter if its Amazon itself doing the delivery rather than some other delivery services?

Then the EB Is good to go.

Much of a muchness.

Ultimately, It's your call.

Contact them the next day and say that you're still waiting for the package to arrive.

I looked into it a bit more and its estimated the cpu + box would weigh around 1 pounds, I guess that could be risky with EB? Just a bit paranoid and trying to find the way that's most likely to work, sorry!

You'd be claiming only the CPU itself is missing, nothing more. And a CPU doesn't weight > 100 grams. The MEB (Manufacturer EB, you're gonna pretend it was Intel's fault) is truly good to go.

That's the shipping/gross weight, which Is not relevant to your SE.

Disregard It.

Simply say that upon opening the box, the CPU was missing. That's why I asked If It can be viewed externally - which you confirmed It cannot.

Thanks, I see how EB works now. Now all I need to do is weigh my options and consider whether to go with DNA or EB for this particular cpu, and go with the one that's least risky. Thanks for the help, everyone!
