Macbook Pro M1 Troubles. - contriveD - 02-25-2022

I'm facing what seems to be there hardest item I've ever SE'd and Im asking for your experiences and recommendations.

The item in question is the
Macbook Pro M1 Max 16 inch
Price around 3.500USD.

The sealed box method seems very unlikly to succeed, as the packaging features a clear plastic film and a pulltab. The pulltab can be purchased online, but I haven't found the plastic film anywhere.
I thought about resealing it using normal clear plastic film and a heating sealer and adding a pulltab afterwards, but I'm not convinced that that would mimic the packaging perfectly.

The DNA method isn't an option because "signature or one-time passowrd required at time of delivery" at amazon. I could use another store, but I don't have any history on there.

The wrong item recieved method isn't an option for other reasons.

The disposed of the faulty item method seems unliky to succeed with such a high value item.

The boxing method would be very tricky to pull of, as the laptop weighs over 1kg.

Please give me your ideas / feedback on my evaluations and help me get this SE to work Smile
Thanks in Advance.

I guess we're gonna wait for mothered on this one.

RE: Macbook Pro M1 Troubles. - Nabeshin - 02-25-2022

Did you try putting the same item in your cart and reaching the checkout page from a different country, same site?
If you're in the EU, try checking out all the regions, .de, .nl, .fr, .it... if it's AMZ we're talking about of course
I noticed that cross-country shipping do not seem to have the OTP requirement, maybe it'll work for you too?

Why won't the disposed of faulty item work? You can easily say the device had started smoking, and out of concern for your own safety, you had disposed of it.

Simply SE another retailer by making a few legit purchases, and hit the DNA at a later time.

What might that be?

I believe that they may not issue a refund without photographic evidence, given the value of the item. Did you have success with this method in the past on items over 1000USD?

Good tip, I’ll check on this later! Have you used this to your advantage before?

See If the film Is available

The option to build reputation on an online shop first and hit the DNA then is appealing. I might go with that.

Regarding the wrong item method, I am doing this SE on a relatives Amazon Account for them. They don’t like this option, because it seems less safe to them (they obviously don’t SE themselves).

Regarding the like you provided, I’ve found this offer too. It might work if you combine this with the pulltab indeed, but given there are no previews, it isn’t certain. I don’t really want to order 100pcs of this and wait for them, just to find out it looks nowhere near original.

I will look into different regional Amazon Sites to avoid the OTP, as another user here recommended. I am uncertain if this would even work to my advantage though, as it would be my first order on that particular amazon site too.

I wish all SEs were this simple.

Stating the absolute obvious, Photoshop It.

RE: Macbook Pro M1 Troubles. - Nabeshin - 02-26-2022

I can confirm that ordering form a different country's Amazon store bypassed the OTP, and even if it was literally the only order i did there (except a small item 4 gears ago) I succeeded since all the Amazon accounts are "shared", you can actually use the same mail and password for every one of them

Very valuable information right there! Thanks for that. Out of curiosity, what value bracket where the successfully SED items in?

It would also be possible to use a lighted cigarette as a smoking prop under the laptop as evidence.

Based on the information @Nabeshin provided, my plan is now to
1. Order the item from a different region Amazon site and bypassing the OTP
2. Claim DNA.
3. If the claim seems to fail for some reason, I would close the case saying the neighbors had it or something. Then proceed to hit disposed of the faulty item with faked photographic evidence.

What do you think?

My SE was just below 2000€, very aged account with hundreds of real orders (on my country's website at least, but since they're shared it's fine)

If the DNA fails you could attempt the disposed item method but I'd kinda bail, return it for a full refund and try again at a later time

It's hard for a non-OTP DNA to fail though, as long as you keep insisting that you never received you'll get it eventually
