Amazon.de refund 500+ € items - siften_sorus - 12-27-2021

https://socialengineers.net/2021/08/why-ftid-method-fails.html
After reading this I don't want to do FTID. Because all things pointed out in the link are so right. I guess it will not work with DHL.
I have no issues photoshopping / PDF-editing the label I just don't think it will ever work.

I would like to know what the best way is of refunding an items to Amazon.de that has value of 500+ Euros.
Carrier: DHL

Another Question

I few years back I received a package that was for real empty! The item was worth "only" 300 euros. So I called Amazon.de explained the situation and they just said that they will send a replacement asap. I asked them if I had to do anything else and they just said: "No, since the value is below amount XXX Euros. You don't. If it was above we would need a signed affidavit from you."

Since it was about 4 years ago I just can't remember the correct amount above which they will want a signed affidavit.
I know for sure that the amount was somewhere above 400 Euros.
Does anyone here knows this?

It's not possible to generalize.

Every SE Is performed on a case-by-case basis and apart from the DNA & sealed box, the method Is based on the nature of the Item.

I've yet to experience a set value for an affidavit. I've SEd 2,000$+ Items without the need to sign documents.

I'd say the rep was assessing the claim at his discretion.

So the package I am willing to refund is about 50 cm x 50 cm x 40 cm and 5+ kg.

I guess you are referring to Amazon US, maybe it is different for Amazon DE. I don't think the rep was lying to me, I also experienced this with other companies in Germany for much lower value items!

What I am willing to try with FTID is a bit different. Rather than shipping them an envelope or empty box, I will buy a shipping label and replace the tracking code with the one from Amazon. I would put the Amazon warehouse as sender and the recipient will be me.
In Germany DHL shipping labels have two codes. The tracking ID and a destination ID. The destination ID decides where the package will be routed. The final sorting is still done by human hands. At least in the are where I live. (I know this as a fact...)

By only changing the tracking ID it should look like it has been delivered to them while instead it got delivered back to me.
Could something like this work?

EDIT:

For anyone interested the above did NOT work. The package still got routed to Amazon.
Luckily I got refunded immediately after dropping it off at the post station.

I am going with DNA next time.

Check whether an OTP will be required on delivery.

If not, DNA It.

Amazon In general.

I'm not suggesting the rep was lying, but rather he perhaps provided the details at his discretion.

I don't support the so-called FTID, so I won't comment on It.

OTP is not required because of covid.
The thing is though if I DNA it, the serial number of the device is showing up in my account. Will this cause problems?

So you are saying the better way would be to DNA or empty box?

It's way too heavy for the EB/missing Item method:

DNA It.

Okay I will do this.

Just one last question about DNA: Is it okay to DNA if I have set a drop off location with the carrier?
The German law says that once you declare a drop off location with a carrier, the carrier is out of any responsibilities if the package gets stolen from there and the damage is up to me.

That is correct. Do not provide a drop off location when using DNA!
Since the drop off location is your "safe space", you are responsible for its safety.

If "you" specify a safe place/drop off point, It releases the carrier from liability.

Why do you wish to do that?
