this is my first ever SE! im nervous.. ups guy just left the package outside the house..by the locked front gate then left. i picked it up took the contents of the box then sealed the box and left it where the ups guy put it. im planning on disguising myself as the "package thief" and steal the empty box..ill be wearing hoodies..so my cam can capture the "easy pick up" by thieves. that way if i say dna, or stolen i have a video to show how in a blink of an eye the thief got away with my package. is it too complicated? suggestions? again ive never done any refunds in any store. but im using a fresh guest account on apple. you guys are helpful and i drew alot of my guts from this amazing forum

There WILL be a police investigation conducted if you have a video of the theft. Make sure you look nothing like your personal self in the video and hide the item afterwards.

Don't take a video, save yourself the hassle, besides most DNA refunds don't require video evidence of a "package thief".

fyi, apple has been known to disable devices if they were bought from apple directly and refunded, so if it happens this time, just keep it in mind next time and order from a third party store like amazon

You are not supposed to know "when" the package arrived, so be sure to contact them the next day and say that you've yet to receive It. Given the nature of the event, an external Investigation Is almost certain to take place, but It's no cause for concern. As with a PR, It's simply required to assess the claim, so comply with their request(s).

update: had a chat and rep asked me if i want a replacement or refund..either way it will start an investigation... i chose refund. then got this email:
We have received an update regarding your inquiry. Our carrier has completed the requested investigation, and no further action will be taken by Apple.
ve any questions, please contact us at 1-800-MY-APPLE.
-so what this supposed to mean? no afurther action will be taken by apple? are they not refunding or
