Using SN for cash refund? How possible? - Magicfingers - 07-05-2021

Hey guys,
I was wondering if any anyone has tried SEing an electronic company using the Serial Number Method and then getting a cash refund to your bank account instead of a replacement.
The main obstacle would be getting the company to accept the fake receipt as proof of purchase.
This would be great because getting new drop addresses and selling the SE'd items online is a lot of work (especially of SE'ers outside the US).

Anyone succeeded with this or anything similar?

Simply tell them that you've had a really bad experience with the Item, hence you'd prefer a refund.

Thanks for your response. You hinted it in one of your guides, I just wanted to be sure because most people settle for replacement.

You're most welcome.

I've written 140+ articles/guides, so I can't remember the precise contents of each one. That aside, you're correct that a replacement Is generally Issued when using the serial number method, but my above recommendation Is pretty effective for a refund.

Say you were told by their CS to return the defective goods for a refund.

It is not that difficult. Hit and miss. A fake postal receipt e.g Royal Mail will go a long way in helping.

Absence of proof of purchase can be explained by advising you were told to send it back with the goods.

Will do.

I have a question:
I'm trying to SE Amazon by claiming to have bought their device (Amazon kindle) from bestbuy. I might be asked to send a receipt as POP. So, what kind of receipt is best when dealing with a company like Amazon. Is it physical receipt or online receipt?. And do you think they'll try to contact bestbuy to verify the receipt?.

It depends whether It was purchased In-store or online.

Speaking for every SE, when the claim Is In the hands of the representatives, It's not possible to determine their actions.

There's always the probability of cross-checking receipts with external sources, but as an SE'er yourself, remain adamant that It Is the receipt that was given to you. The objective (In this case) Is to put Best Buy at fault for making an administration error, thereby not able to verify Its existence.

You're correct. I spent some time going through a best buy online forum and found out that sometimes there are errors made by cashiers/salesperson.

In response to my first question about receipts, my opinion is that physical receipts are more believable since they require extra work to make/fake.

As always, I appreciate your response.
