Love - PiePink - 06-07-2021

The last time I registered on a dating forum was five years ago. At that time the impression I got was not very good. I think, maybe now there are more effective and functional applications, which give a real opportunity to find a soulmate?

People tend to meet over common interests/activities, so doing what you enjoy is the best way to meet someone. Dating apps/forums tend to be entirely profile-driven, which isn't a great way to judge someone's personality or character.

Think about the environment or the setting that is set for dating platforms, and how many people are on it.

You will get better results and more genuine interaction from meeting people in person. Best advice to give would probably be to keep it simple and in person.

100% agree with this. You're far more likely to have a more sustainable relationship too, if you meet someone via a similar interest. That goes for friendships too.

I personally have had good success meeting someone on the internet (lol), but I'm not saying I'd recommend it. Being stuck 5k miles apart is brutal, so definitely at least try to keep it within the same country if you do end up finding someone online...

Yeah long distance relationships can sometimes work, but if we’re being real how often do they not? Its all love from me when it comes to you and @Oni Smile
I’m just saying its wiser imo to date in person vs online. I dont know what I would do if my Significant Other was 5K+ miles away.

If you're young or looking for a relationship actively, a long distance one has a lot of challenges so I wouldn't recommend it for most people. However, if you do meet someone I'd at least recommend giving it a shot. For adults that are honest, with reasonable expectations - there's no reason not to try. We've been dating for almost 8 years and some marriages don't even last that long.

In terms of dating, every board differs to a large extent, so registering on a few and evaluating each one will give you a very good Insight of whether online dating suits your needs and wants.

Personally, I prefer IRL dating- a person's body language and the context of how they communicate, speaks a thousand words about their profile.

I'd say that's especially true for young people. You're so much more prone to hide things, only post the good pictures of yourself etc. Perhaps it's ok to meet online, but definitely make sure to meet up IRL early on.
