PAST SE QUESTION - Waifu - 06-03-2021 Hello all ,Back in early 2020, I ordered my pc parts from amazon and decided to SE (refund) some of them. I used the Partial Method when I purchased an SSD, HDD, Cable mod, and RAM. My courier was stupid enough to leave the parcel near my door, which was a perfect DNA. Fast forward, I ordered other legitimate parts in-between purchases, such as the GPU. Now, the only thing I was missing was the case, and to my surprise, the courier rang my doorbell and was waiting outside, hoping for someone to come out. I eventually was overthinking that he may have the authority to take the case back to the post office and opened the door. Did you guys think I should have waited until the courier notices no one is home? If I did wait, would the courier have taken the package with him or left it near my door? I would like to hear your guys' opinion about my past SE !
RE: PAST SE QUESTION - mothered - 06-04-2021 Quote:Did you guys think I should have waited until the courier notices no one is home?Always allow the driver to make the decision. If he dropped the package at your doorstep, then that speaks for Itself. If not and you noticed him walking away, that's when you make your move by approaching him and accept the delivery. You've got nothing to lose by waiting, and everything to gain- should the package be left unattended at your premises. Quote:If I did wait, would the courier have taken the package with him or left it near my door?As per above. I have always been making this mistake of deciding to just wait it out until the courier leaves. Never thought of approaching the person when he walks away with the package. I'll make sure to use that for my future purchases. Thanks

The point to waiting for the driver to make the decision on the delivery, Is that It's his responsibility If the package Is left at your doorstep. As such, It just about solidifies the DNA. And (as mentioned), you can still accept It the moment he begins to walk away with your consignment. RE: PAST SE QUESTION - zorrophreak - 06-04-2021 Always give it a shot. If you want to accept last minute you can but he can always just make you sign. Never know, just make sure which courier service. Higher weight packages sometimes require a signature. If you have the luck/unluck of myself, my national postal service provider doesn't ever wait for a signature. I had some Certified mail that required a signature by law because of the nature of the document and he signed himself and just put it in my mailbox. It wasn't actually all that important but he'll do it for other stuff too and it has come in handy. A 12 gram diamond ring worth around 10k, will definitely require a signature at the minimum and/or perhaps an OTP, as opposed to a 10 Kg set of dumbbells valued at 40$- which Is no significant loss should the shipment go missing. A friend of mine purchased a 2k gaming pc through amazon and the package was left at his door without signing the package. I think it depends on the carrier that is delivering the package and such. Some carriers require strict regulations by taking purchases when a package is delivered, and some don't. On another side-note, purchasing for ex: a massaging chair would have a much higher probability of requiring a signature as its value is higher. Not to forget, this can also go with much smaller luxury weighted items such as rolexs, rings, etc. Thanks for your reply and your opinion! I really appreciate it

From a social engineering standpoint, DNAs are solely based on manipulating receipt of goods. Totally agree with the comment you made above about the diamond. Although DNAs have been used for years now, it still has an extremely high possibility to manipulate the receipt of goods (as you stated) .

I've been In the SEing scene for a very long time, and I'm quite surprised that companies who operate on a large scale, have yet to (fully) Identify the methods used to falsify claims. It also comes down to employee awareness and training - which due to the Influx of orders and claims, they simply don't have the resources and manpower to allocate scheduled training sessions. |
