Mobile Hi-Fi - Skullmeat - 02-10-2021 With more and more phones removing the headphone jack, Mobile DAC/AMPs are becoming more common and cheaper. While a bit cumbersome, I run a Fiio BTR5 https://www.amazon.com/FiiO-BTR5-384K-Bluetooth5-0-Headphone-Unbalanced/dp/B07ZK3M6XK in USB DAC mode with a pair of ATH-M50XBT https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M50xBT-Wireless-Bluetooth-Headphones/dp/B07HKVCVSY headphones. The sound it provides is sublime. Anyone else have a similar setup?
RE: Mobile Hi-Fi - Vuroz - 02-11-2021 You should try that + Tidal RE: Mobile Hi-Fi - mothered - 02-12-2021 (02-11-2021, 08:20 PM)Vuroz Wrote: You should try that + TidalAs a matter of Interest, In terms of sound, why Tidal over the others? RE: Mobile Hi-Fi - Skullmeat - 02-12-2021 I've never even heard of Tidal. Tidal offers higher quality audio than services like Spotify. They also offer some gimmicks like Sony 360RA. I'd imagine the catalog is more limited. RE: Mobile Hi-Fi - Losi - 02-12-2021 I bought the AKG M220's when they were on massdrop.com. (https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-x-akg-m220-pro-headphones) Absolutely the most comfortable headphones I've bought. I use them with my Creative Labs media card right now. Great bass, and strong mids too. Plenty for my DNB addiction. I don't have a mobile DAC though. Running wired Apple earbuds because I mostly listen to podcasts when I am outside. RE: Mobile Hi-Fi - Skullmeat - 02-12-2021 I'll just stick with my flac files. RE: Mobile Hi-Fi - Vuroz - 02-17-2021 I've had tidal for quite some time, it actually has alot more than you would think. Sure, you may not find some smaller soundcloud rappers with shit quality on thier songs who barely releases on Spotify, but other than that I think Tidal is great. RE: Mobile Hi-Fi - zorrophreak - 02-21-2021 Love that setup, lately my LG phones have had a decent enough Quad-DAC with their headphone jack to increase audio quality, powering some Panasonic RP-HC800-K headphones. I'm looking to moving to the FiiO BTR5 as well to be combined with AKG K240s which were the best headphones I have ever used and have a sound I've looked to replicate but I think I'll just go with the trusted source. Tidal's selling point is that it pulls not only FLAC quality but the actual unmixed streams of audio along with the proper mixing information giving the "clearest most unadulterated sound." It does provide some increase in quality for the music that is available. However, for the price its kind of ridiculous and I find FLAC to be very much equivalent to its sound quality. |
