Jewelry/Necklace SE - Jklol3141 - 02-04-2021

I’m  interested in getting a necklace from Z-ales that is approximately $450 and extremely light (doesn’t list a weight but no more than a few grams plus the small necklace box). When I worked at UPS I had many Z-ales packages that came through and they were almost always bubble mailers so I’m assuming that’s what it would be sent in. I believe it would be delivered with UPS. What is your advice on the best way to tackle this one? I was thinking DNA or EB? I also have a small bracelet that I got from them a while ago that is still new/never worn and I thought about perhaps doing a wrong item received and sending that back. What do you think would be best considering the price and low weight?

I would stay away for the EB method because if they have CCTV in the warehouse your SE has failed but partial or DNA i believe would work.

If CCTV cameras are In operation, the missing Item method Is no different to the partial. Both will be Identified In their footage as correctly packed and dispatched.

In the event cameras are In place and the necklace Is enclosed In the box (and cannot be viewed externally), simply claim that It was missing when you opened It.

All good, no problem at all.

Okay, I will try that so long as the packaging is as you described. It’s supposed to be here Monday, might update if anything changes otherwise I’ll update about how it goes. Thank you both.

Good to read.

I shall periodically check this thread for the latest developments.

So it was delivered last night. It actually came in a very small box from UPS. It was delivered in the code accessed lockers at my apartment complex so DNA is probably not the way to go anyway. I will note that the box said that generic 1.0lbs on the box when the box clearly weighed less than a pound.

The box had a pull tab on it top open it. So what I did was pulled the side down that was glued (instead of using the pull tab) to life the whole side up, took out the box, but left the paper, and then carefully put it all back and then put a bit of tape where I lifted it up. Then I took pictures as if it had just been delivered showing that it had obviously (but not so obvious the delivery driver would’ve noticed/cared) been opened and then taped back down. I actually used to do this when I worked at UPS and I know all of my coworkers did as well so I know this happens quite a bit.

I figured between claiming the box arrived being obviously pre-opened (and having pictures of it), claiming that the contents were missing, and the fact that the weight was just set from the computer at 1lb and wasn’t actually weighed that EB would be the best? Sorry to drag this on, thanks for the help.

You've formulated a very calculated approach which Is quite effective. Well done on that.

I just need clarification on your following post:
Quote:the fact that the weight was just set from the computer at 1lb and wasn’t actually weighed

Are you saying It wasn't weighed at the carrier's depot?

Thank you. And yes I believe so. Both online tracking as well as the packaging itself simply says 1lbs. Not 1.05lbs or whatever else just a generic didn’t even get weighed small number.
