DNA - Courier consequences - ag19sin - 09-17-2020

If one was to DNA a package, what are the consequences on the courier who delivered the parcel? Don't want to get the little guy in hot water. Do most companies just write the loss off or would the driver be held responsible?

Your question is not specific enough. The consequences will vary on a wide range of factors such as but not limited to: the price of the item, the courier company, the size and weight of the item, the company the item was purchased from, their general protocol for dealing with such situations, the protocol of the courier company for dealing with such situations. The customer service representatives you deal with from both store you purchased from, and courier company, and said representatives current mood. Even Corona virus can affect this technically. Even factors you wouldn't have thought would affect it, such as if the said delivery driver happens to be on annual leave whilst you claim DNA.

There are no hard and fast rules.

Whether companies open Investigations and If carriers are personally questioned over their delivery run, Is predominantly done on a case-by-case basis. The probability of the driver being held responsible, Increases If there's a record of undelivered goods against his/her name.

I remember one time having some angry ass DPD driver try and smash down my door for a delivery. Dude was pissed, never saw him again

I suggest being very careful with using the DNA method if your courier is DPD. They have really stepped their game. They will also make their drivers fully aware of what you done, even if they have no evidence, and they will act differently towards you.

DPD now class a parcel as *successfully delivered" even if it's just left at your door with no humans in the picture. As the driver will take a photo of it, and the GPS in the van will show it being in the same location.

I failed a £90 ASOS DNA with DPD. And I have extended experience with SE'ing, including utilizing the DNA method. Actually I think that this was the first DNA I have ever failed ...

Yeah haven't done a DNA with DPD since. For a while after that, all deliveries to my name had to be ID'ed!

"Successfully delivered", by no means concludes that you "successfully accepted It".

There's a huge difference between the two. Evidently, they cannot differentiate such a simple distinction.

DPD take the photo once you’ve opened the door to them

Either don't open It, or rearrange the entryway prior to their arrival.

After the photo Is taken, place everything back as per normal. This gives the appearance as though It's not your home In the photo.
