Changing debit card on amazon to avoid being charged - Checkpoint - 08-02-2020 I ordered a 500 euro item on amazon, and did FTID because it had worked for me before. This time it didn't work, and amazon said to me that they received an empty package. They had refunded me in advance while the package was in transit, and they also told me that they will charge my card again in 10 days if I don't send the item back to them. Now, what if I report my card as lost and get a new one? They won't be able to charge. But it will be a clear as day indication that it is refunding. No benefit of the doubt like "my package got stolen" etc. It's just plain deleting the card to avoid being charged. Do you know what amazon would do? This is my first refund on this amazon domain, but I have used another domain (my main country) in which I have another account with 10+ years of orders and three big refunds (I never received a warning email also). The email is the same in both accounts (and same card, same address), as I was told that generally different amazon domains are not linked. What would you do in this situation? They won't be able to charge. They may get In contact with your bank/merchant and debit your account directly from there. It's a somewhat lengthy process to approve/authorize and finalize paperwork on both ends, but outstanding funds can be recovered. I'm not suggesting that It "will" happen, but rather "may" happen. Quote:What would you do in this situation?Cancel the card and hope that they don't take action altogether, or the cost of Investigating the matter, outweighs the cost of the Item. So basically they would charge my "new" card with a different number going through my bank. I hope they would not ban my accounts. I never received a warning email as I said. However, It must be from the "primary account holder" and not a "joint account"- as they cannot determine who the cash belongs to. What about disputing it with Amazon? Contacting them and telling them that you had sent the package back and it is completely not your fault as to why the item is not in the package? I have heard some stories from word of mouth about people disputing and constantly annoying Amazon about it and actually acting like a customer who has returned the item. Chances are this may work as management will get annoyed and tired of everything, and will no longer pursue. Maybe you could also contact your bank as well to ask about it. You're a customer and as far as you know, you've returned the item. Just my two cents, please keep us informed on what occurs. Moreover, the weight would've been recorded at the carrier's depot, so this Is another Inconsistency. RE: Changing debit card on amazon to avoid being charged - Checkpoint - 08-03-2020 The weight doesn't appear in the tracking. Do you think the weight was still registered somewhere? Also for the cost of freight- volume or weight, whichever Is the greater. I'm trying this route for now even if I have little hope since I saw that Amazon can be immovable sometimes. RE: Changing debit card on amazon to avoid being charged - Checkpoint - 08-07-2020 Seems like I saved myself. I tried sending some more email (they stonewalled me) but after the second they didn't reply to me anymore. So I sent a third email NOT replying to the previous ones but sending a brand new message from the order page. MAybe this reached a brand new rep who didn't bother checking past conversations because they immediately replied to me saying that the matter has been resolved and there is no action I have to take. I hope I don't get surprises in a few days. I don't want to escalate the matter further. |
