Amazon Return SE Help Needed! - KrakenKraken - 03-07-2019

So a couple of weeks ago, I started a wrong item S.E from Amazon. The return said that it was 'on it's way' for a few weeks, so I contacted support through the live chat.

After contacting thier support team I have been told that I returned I 'non amazon' item and that they want a police report. Supposedly my return has been flagged and 'escalated' by the returns team.

This isn't true - the item That a returned is sold by Amazon directly, but it was bought from another store to avoid it being linked to my address. I removed any additional stickers except from the barcode (as it was under the shrink wrap), and I don't know how they figured it out - maybe it lacked the proper Amazon stickers or something.

I really don't know how to proceed from here as I did the wrong item method specifically to avoid police reports, as I don't want to file one. I can't even send the item back now, as they have the shipping box.

What should I do guys? Keep trying with more reps? Ask them to send the box back so I can try again?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Well bearing in mind that they intercepted it.
Try a different rep, say the person you bought it for used it, and they didnt like it, so you decided to return it. And you demand a refund.

They would've Identified It by the barcode.

The barcode has a "UPC" (Universal Product Code) that's used for the Item's description, so It's not dedicated to any store. If It has an "SKU" (Stock Keeping Unit) number, then that's assigned by the company and Is part of "their" Inventory. In your case, when they scanned the barcode, the SKU number will not show up on their system (error message will be returned), therefore It's not their stock.

So let's say I create another account, buy the replacement item ("wrong item") directly from amazon, with different CC and different address so they can't link the two accounts.

Then claim wrong item and send it back.

They will scan the barcode and see that it's the same item that was shipped to another account, right? Since they check inventory and every single item is identifiable. Doesn't that mean that the method will fail everytime they check?

That's where It ends.

If all goes well, you'll receive a refund/replacement.

They do not check their Inventory on "every" return.

They don't have the manpower to deal with the volume of claims, let alone check and do a stock take of their Inventory.

Fair enough. I might try to do that in the future.

The way It generally works Is like this.

They'll receive the return with the wrong Item enclosed. They will then scan the barcode on the box (assuming the correct Item Is Inside), and place It back In stock. When It comes to their attention (from a customer who's ordered It and complained) that the Item Is not as per the box description, they'll look Into It further.

This would happen only if you claim "damaged original item" and then send back a different item, kind of scamming them.

If you originally claim "you sent me a wrong item" and send back the supposed wrong item (ordered from them in a different account, which you actually swapped with the original item), as your story goes, if they don't do deep checks with inventory, the case should be closed right there.

Evidently.

It's common sense to claim a defective Item.
