SE Ikea - furniture - phobetor00 - 02-19-2019

I'm very curious about SE big items, namely furniture: I'm thinking mattresses, kitchen tables, wardrobes etc.
Has anyone tried it? Could Ikea be a good retailer for experimenting?

Rather than having It delivered, pick It up from the store's dispatch area and claim they've given you the Incorrect box/Item.

As opposed to "store person > delivery driver", this only goes through one hand- the person giving you the Item. Therefore, the probability of error on their part Is more likely than not.

It depends on what courier Ikea use.

If they use your regular courier (DHL, UPS, Parcelforce), then a simple 'wrong item received' could work for you but I can imagine it would be quite difficult trying to find an item to return that is similar weight and low cost.

I know that Ikea use a 'Order & Collection point' but from what I gather, you literally get greeted by somebody who confirms your ID and requires you to bring an order ID number, they'll also make sure you walk away with the correct item.

Try doing that against a wardrobe or mattress. The Items are way too big for the method.

I couldn't Imagine trying to locate an Item, that's the same size and weight as a mattress, especially If It's a king size.

Haha of course, I was more thinking about flat-packed items that are in small boxes.

Smaller items could defenitly be done. Would be interested to hear if someone does do it!

Malm drawers can be returned and exchanged for gift receipts in the uk. Infact any ikea drawers as they are a hazard to toping over.Easy to make money this way if you are inventive you will have enough gift receipts for a matress etc.

In that case, you're definitely correct.

So a mattress or a larger item would be increasingly difficult and require and increased level of skill. Still, though, it seems that the best method would be to pick up in store. I wonder if they're sloppier at a place like Homegoods.

You can say the wrong "type" of mattress was given.

Purchase one worth (example) 1,500$, and use a 300$ mattress as the wrong Item.
You've still profited 1,200$ .
