What's The Worst Morning You've Woken Up To? - mothered - 02-04-2019
Greetings everyone,
Well, here's my morning. Upon waking up and (obviously) the first thing I did was to check If my network was up and running, It was not what I wanted to experience. My systems were not communicating and my IDS/IPS and threat & Intelligence monitoring was also down.
To add to this, my main PC failed to boot, whereby the manufacturer's OEM recovery partition was corrupted so I had to get Into the BIOS, enable Legacy Mode, turn off secure boot and allow my cracked version of Windows 10 to Install thereafter. Three hours later of reconfiguring the entire network, along with a massive headache, here I am- up and running again.
That's was my morning. What about you guys? What's one of the worst mornings you've woken up to?

Not days i usually go by seasons (yes I am Chinese living with my somalian grandparents in the 2 acre igloo in south pole, fyi, migrated from the north pole because with the global warming and everything, we cant grow ice wood stick)

It's summer In my locality and for some reason, "flies" have populated the area. During my 30 minute walk yesterday, I was attacked (consistently) with no less than 20.

Try walking into a herd of about 100 in a swamp. I've been places, wonderful places.

I tell you, I sprayed every Inspect repellent I could get my hands on- all to no avail.

Trying out a PoE project setup I had going the night before only to find that a mouse infestation had caused my house's internal ethernet to be chewed through during the course of the night. This caused me to have to attach computers in different parts of the house to USB WiFi adapters instead of allowing for direct ethernet connection.
This meant that two computers that had previously had perfect connections to the router and firewalls had to be rejiggered using tools from my mobile work bag.
And it completely killed the project I was working on to create a very controlled grow operation for a customer. I had to abandon a $500 design project because I couldn't afford to buy the proper cord replacements to scale the project to its actuality.
But that first post sounds like a nightmare written if HP Lovecraft had a baby with Linus Torvalds and he wrote horror fiction specifically for IT people.

Yes, I feel your pain. I had to reinstall windows many times because of my hard drive got bad.

My goodness, that's a nightmare.
But we all recover and get on with fulfilling our needs In some capacity.

20 is nothing. I now live in the UK but a few years ago, I moved from Hong Kong, which is a small territory near China.
I couldn't be bothered to put on repellents, as they often don't work, and a day's walk in Sham Shui Po(a hot and poor area) gives me 80 bites, from multiple swarms. Luckily though, in where I live(shatin, a mildly richer area) they do good mosquito control and are generally less. Obviously now in the UK, mosquitoes aren't a problem at all.
