Anyone who has used Backtrack knows that by default you run as root, many programs consider this dangerous (rightly so) and the TOR browser bundle is no exception. Today I will show you how to bypass this, it's fairly easy and just involves modifying the script slightly to remove the check. open up the start-tor-browser.sh in Kwrite or whichever editor you prefer and scroll down to line that says:
you can either change this to:
or delete that block, then save your changes and run the script. It should now work and allow you to connect to the TOR network.
This is an old trick so many people will probably know about this, but for those that don't this is how its done.
Code:
if [ "`id -u`" -eq 0 ]; thenyou can either change this to:
Code:
if [ "`id -u`" -eq 1 ]; thenor delete that block, then save your changes and run the script. It should now work and allow you to connect to the TOR network.
