hello friends i have few questions i need answers to i'll start by the first question suppose i've installed linux as dual boot with windows xp !! now i had to format my windows xp my linux os stays or it's gone and need to re-install it ?

If you formatted the windows partition linux will still be there but if you formatted the entire drive linux will be gone. After you reinstall windows you may have to repair grub which isn't to hard.

@shadowwolf91 ok so in order to keep it safe i need to install it at another partition ?

@blackeagle When you install it, it will create the partitions needed.

@shadowwolf91 well this is clear to me but can't i install both linux and xp on same partition !! for example i have c d and e on my laptop xp is on c when i install linux i choose on what partition i wanna install it am i right ? c , d or e so if i install on c and format my windows xp both linux nd xp are gone and if i install on d or e and format xp linux will stay ?
