does anyone have Kali running on a s3 here? i have everything ready to go but the kernel im currently running does not support it. was wondering what other roms/kernels are working whit att s3. i have tried cm roms with no luck. later ill try the slim bean roms but there based of cm roms so i don't think so. might have to try akop roms i think. any input?

i'm just messing around with a spare phone trying new things

Well I am a hater of all that "new-generation" phones, mine at the moment doesn't even take pictures :Embarrassed: BUT as I was a fanatic fun of Kali Linux for long time I was reading the news...and I remember for sure that rapid 7 announced exactly for your phone Samsung Galaxy S series that Kali Linux can be installed on it for sure!

Now I can't help you with details about how to do it cause as I told you already I am a hater of that kind of phones, but I can ensure you that it can happen !

i know it can be lol im trying to see if anyone knows what rom/kernel combo works. aokp i think would be best since it leaves a lot of open ram to run apps and such. just cant find a working one with it lol

The ARMhf IMG is located on Kali's official site, as far as installing, it wasn't too difficult, but its not quite as cut & dry as flashing a new ROM.

I'm testing tonight using mine as a rogue access point that can be initilized on-demand.

i had to install task360 aokp rom and kernel. now were all good got it working.

You can use Kali Linux everywhere now...
The only reason a thought about buying a "trend-phone" (thats how I name them) sometime in the past came in my mind was that, but then I thought logically... :Sarcastic:

You can use Kali Linux everywhere now...
The only reason a thought about buying a "trend-phone" (thats how I name them) sometime in the past came in my mind was that, but then I thought logically... :Sarcastic:

Look at it this way. You can set up a remote session between your mobile device's Kali Linux distro, & your home install.

Plant the phone at a Dunkin Donuts, plugged in with the LCD's flex cable unplugged, & keep it running a rogue access point stating "Dunkin Donut's HiSpeed Free" or something similar, & just sit at a distance, with little to no detection. Even if the store were to discover the device, they would hold it as lost, but keep in mind, customers could steal the device, so be prepared to find a nice hiding spot near an outlet (unless you rig up a nice Mophie hub, in which case you can hide it in the trash containers with some velcro).

This is just an idea, I like to plan possibilities (that I typically don't act on). Please don't do this, & if you do, nore HC or I are responsible. I'm just setting up a hypothetical of a good use for Kali Linux on mobile.

no i dont plan on dioing anything like that. i just like the idea of how things work and whaqt better way then to do it. just my way of learning something new.
