genetic engineering is the direct manipulation of a organisms genome via biotechnology.

we're making great strides in this field. we have mapped the entire genome of homo sapiens and hundreds of other species.

we've already genetically engineered some food crops for increased resistance and yield. something that would have taken hundreds of years to do with just selective breeding..

imagine if we genetically engineered our future generations..
we could eliminate all genetic disease in an entire generation.

we could improve resistance to known bacterium and virally infectious entities.
even HIV could be extinct in an entire generation if we gave all our would be children the delta 32 mutation to its ccr5 gene which turns off expression of the ccr5 receptor on our t cells( its a useless recepticle anyway)

not only that, but we could select gene expressions that we know improve intelligence..that improve general health and increase muscle strength per pound.

What are your thoughts on genetic engineering organisms?

I think it would be good in the fact of curing genetic disorders but we should leave the other traits such as intelligence up to the randomness of nature.
